Mop up operation
Great for cleaning in the chamber they get a lot of grime left behind after cleaning with solvents.

Great in theory
Being military and having to qualify with the M4/M16 regularly, the star chamber is an absolute pain to clean. I remember seeing a friend use them before and they worked pretty well for him so I had purchased these guys hoping for a similar result. Well I bought it and put it on the cleaning attachment and shoved it in, and I fought to get it out, actually pulled the attachment off of the pole (cleaner and the small attachment it goes on). I had to pull out my Gerber to finagle the thing out of the chamber. It did pick up dirt, but due to how well it fit (like a glove), it didn't allow for me to spin it (easily). I eventually just went back to using q-tips and my very small pinky to do checks. I think they would have worked great if they were a little smaller than the chamber so they could move around just a little more. But they were worth a shot. It's not a bad price for how many you got. Just wished they would have worked better.

Updated Review
After using these cleaning pads several times now here's my take. The pads fit tightly into the chamber, which is what you want. It also necessitated the use of the enclosed nut to keep the pad on the rod adapter, also included. The pads clean up the star chamber nicely, however, they leave behind plenty of lint fibers as the pad falls apart. It's no big deal to me as I easily cleaned up the lint with, ironically enough, a q tip. I know many AR 15 folks who don't like any amount of lint on their rifle. If this is you, stay away. I consider price point and for me this is a small price to pay for these cleaning pads, that's why it's 4 stars and not less. God Bless.

Design sucks - The pad spins freely and barely fits the chamber
I bought this item thinking it would be a cheap generic substitute for the name brand chamber cleaning pads, but boy was it a let down. Let me go straight to the point:Pros:- Cheap- Includes threaded adapter (compatible with most cleaning rods).Cons:- Pads spins freely on the adapter so it doesn't clean the chamber. The pad stays fixed while the cleaning rod spins (using a fixed bearing-less cleaning rod)- Pads are a tad too big for the chamber, and very hard to push behind the locking lugs.- Pads are hard to get out of the star chamber, again due to sizing.- Due to the very thin adapter thread diameter (for the pad), it isn't compatible with most other star chamber cleaning tools, like the 'Wheeler Star Chamber Cleaning Pads' or the 'Otis Technology Star Chamber Tool' (I tried).- Pads quickly loose shape when used, loosing the defined lug shapes.- Pads leave A LOT of lint. All in all, I really don't recommend them. After buying this, the Otis and the Wheeler tool, my favorite is probably the Otis tool. If you want cheap replacement pads buy listings similar to this one, but the ones that use the 8/32 thread on both the cleaning handle and pad side - just look at the images and make sure the thread is equally as large on both sides of the adapter (unlike this listing where one side's thread is thinner). But as far as this item, I have no use for it as it is too much of a hassle to use. I really don't recommend it.

Easy to use. No more stuck in chamber pads.
Will make it easier to clean the chamber. Pad will not stuck in the chamber.

They're ok
I just wished the holes on the pads are wide enough to accommodate a jag to avoid having to use the provided attachment. Other than that, the pads are well constructed and do the job they were meant to do.

You get what you pay for...
These pads cost 1/2 what others cost, so I was skeptical to begin with, and my skepticism was warranted. Upon arrival, I could immediately tell these were not well cut and would be insufficient with respect to cleaning in between the lugs. The lug cutouts on the pads are not well defined and smashed down due to the low density of the wool material. After working with them, I found my first impression to be the correct one. They leave more wool threads in the chamber than carbon removed. I'm not going to return them for just $9 minus shipping, so I'll use them instead to clean the inside of the upper receiver.Lastly, before leaving this review I ordered and received another brand of star chamber wool cleaning pads. I wanted to be fair in my comparison before leaving 1* here. The other brand came at a higher cost, but they are legitimately excellent cleaning pads and clean between the lugs as well as they clean behind the lugs. None of the complaints I have about these pads were present in the other brand's products. I don't think we're allowed to say the name of the product we ultimately ended up keeping in these reviews, so suffice it to say the manufacturer's company name rhymes with Teal Acid. The higher cost is worth it because cleaning the locking lugs and behind them is an irritating problem that this type of product is supposed to solve. This brand's product did not perform even up to its lower cost.

Decent product, I've used better
The price point on this product makes up with the fact that the product leaves room for improvement. I found that the item does hold cleaner very well and gets the surface/loose carbon off. 50% of the time the pad gets stuck in the camber and I have to use a cleaning rod to push it out due to the center hole not retaining its structural integrity. All in all, this is a good project. I would buy it again just due to it's cost. It's worth the small inconvenience.
