Q: Is this a quilter's scant 1/4th inch or a true 1/4th inch piecing foot? Thanks.

I've been getting a true 1/4 seam. I just started a quilting class so we have to measure after we sew pieces together. I measure before I press and after. I have the instructor check some of my seams. I also use a magnetic seam guide and I sew very slow.

Q: Does it work with a Singer Quantum 9960 machine?

Yes, The Singer Quantum Stylist model 9960 sewing machine is a Low Shank sewing machine and therefore is compatible with the Singer Quarter Inch ¼ Inch Piecing Snap-On Presser Foot for Low-Shank Sewing Machines. We always recommend when using any presser foot for the first time, you do this simple test before sewing. 1)-Attach the presser foot 2)-Lower the presser foot 3)-Hand turn the hand wheel at least 4-6 times to make sure the needle is clearing the presser foot correctly.

Q: Just ordered a new Singer 7258 Stylist which comes w/1/4" presser foot although not this one. Wondering what difference is? Thanks

The quarter inch foot that is included with the machine has 3 small markings on the right `toe' of the foot. The farthest right marking is the guide for ¼". Use this for sewing 1/4" seams, not the right side of the foot itself. This foot servers double duty, because it is also used as a straight stitch foot. The ¼" foot that is sold separately has a different design. The right side of the presser foot itself is used as a guide for the ¼" seam. There are also red markings on the foot, serving as guides for pivoting corners, etc.

The Singer Quarter Inch Piecing Presser Foot is compatible with the Singer Fashion Mate model 5560 sewing machine. We always recommend when using any presser foot for the first time, that you do this simple test before sewing. 1)-Attach the presser foot 2)-Lower the presser foot 3)-Hand turn the hand wheel at least 4-6 times to make sure the needle is clearing the presser foot correctly.
