Great little player at a great price - get it
I bought this to supplement an older version of the same item bought 3 years ago. The new one is even better than the old one. Here is what I really like about it: Pros: 1. Great sound - when set on the default "normal" sound (it has a built-in equalizer), its bases are rich and its sound is excellent. Could not ask for better - honestly 2. Holds up to 4,000 songs. I only listen to perhaps 30 so I don't need the capacity, but it can hold a ton of songs 3. Has a built-in radio, if I want to switch to the news or weather when walking. It can store 20 pre-set FM stations 4. Has 3 built-in playlist folders, and you can create your own playlists using a connected computer 5. Can record dictated notes or reminders by simply switching to record function. Very handy if I think of something and want to make a notation while using the player 6. Has two different ways of storing and listening to audio books, using "Audible" software, or not 7. Very small but powerful. Has a clip to attach to a pocket, belt or pants waist 8. The battery lasts at least 9 - 10 hours between charges. Charges up in about 2 hours. Cons - only one minor issue I know of - Like all players, the Sandisk sorts all songs by song title, not song name. So, if you load a song with its original title (e.g. - Thriller.mp3) BUT you rename it on your computer to "Song 2.mp3", the player will still sort that song under "T" in the alphabet rather than "S". There is, however, a way around this (see the questions section of this listing), but it takes a bit of effort on the computer. To save space and cost, it does not come packaged with a full printed manual. To get it, simply visit sandisk.com and navigate to the MP3 player manuals page and download it. It is well written and has all the explanations. All in all, I love the player and it cost me under $40 with free shipping. Excellent deal.

Finally an MP3 player that works!!
An MP3 player has one basic job, that is to play MP3's. By default it should do it in proper track order (unless you pick shuffle). I tried 4 or 5 of the cheap knock off brand MP3 players and not a single one of them would play songs in the correct order. Some would play albums alphabetized. WTF? Who listens to an album in alphabetical order. WTF? The Sandisk player however works perfect. I just copied my MP3's from my computer to the player and when I select any of the albums, the songs are displayed and played in the correct order. Bottom line, this player is simple to load and works correctly. Battery life so far seem to be as advertised - 16hrs before I recharged and it wasn't completely dead at that point. The sounds is very good. I don't hear any static or crackle at all in quiet music. That may be due to the fact I use a quality pair of ear phones. The buttons have a good feel and a positive click. I use this mostly while biking & working out and it's very small and very light, which is exactly what I wanted. It's also got the sport clip on the back, so you can drop it in a pocket or clip it on the edge of something, nice option. Update: It does NOT have Bluetooth. But this player is really meant to be a light and small for sports. Something you take when you go running, walking, biking, etc. And for those things it works fantastic. I'm liking this player the more I use it.

If you want a cheap and small MP3 player that can store lots of music, this is it.
Cheap and small MP3 players with sufficient memory (at least 8GB+) that’s not a piece of junk are getting harder to find. I prefer using a cheap and small MP3 player when I exercise and when I travel. Cheap and small MP3 players don’t attract unwanted attention and if they get stolen or lost, no big deal. This is my first purchase of a SanDisk 16GB Clip sport Go MP3 player. I was pleasantly surprised at the small size and the storage capacity. It was easy to import music from iTunes. I had to carefully read the user’s manual (downloaded from the SanDisk website) to figure out how to work the radio and other features. Overall, setting up and using the SanDisk is fairly easy after reading the user’s manual. I’ve only had the SanDisk for a week so I can’t comment of its durability. The clip that secures the SanDisk to your clothes seemed fairly robust, but I’m expecting this to eventually break after repeated use. There is one glitch that I’ve noticed. When I first turn on the SanDisk and listen to music, within the first 15-30 minutes, several songs will stop and skip to the next song. I don’t know why this happens and I just hope that it is a minor glitch that doesn’t become a bigger problem. If I had purchased this at a local retail store, I’d probably exchange it. Since I purchased it on Amazon, returning it requires more effort so I’m keeping it and hoping for the best. From my experience, cheap MP3 players have a life-span of about 16-20 months before something breaks or the battery no longer recharges. If I can get 12 months out of SanDisk, I’ll be happy and gotten my money’s worth out of it. *CORRECTION*: The “glitch” that I mentioned in my review is NOT a “glitch.” My SanDisk stopped and skipped to the next song because of where I placed it on my body. The SanDisk function buttons are more sensitive to touch than I expected. When using a rubber exercise band or a TRX suspension strap, if the band or strap touched the SanDisk function buttons it would stop and/or skip. The same thing happened when clothes or any part of my body touched the SanDisk function buttons. I found that if I attached the SanDisk to an armband facing away from my body, I avoided hitting the SanDisk function buttons and it now works perfectly.

Best I have found
Thank goodness I finally found an mp3 player with a full menu, with cover art in the display window. It will list all of your music by artist, album or genre, alphabetically, in typed list form. When you select a song it goes to cover art on the screen. Most players just list one way, alphabetical by song, and you must scroll down and choose each song you wish to play, one by one or shuffle the whole drive. Like my previous Creative brand it plays the whole album or artist selection you choose and then holds for you to select another album. after it has played The sound fidelity is what you get from your average cheap electronics, but it has several equaliizer types by name you can select. If you want high fidelity there is the highly rated, but large Walkman high fidelity for $200 or more. This item is tiny, tiny, tiny. I cannot read it without my reading glasses on. The player is about the same size as the clip. It will drag and drop from Windows Media Player, I tunes, and many of the major mp3 programs out there. This player is perfect for athletics because it is nearly weightless. It is a true winner for music, but that is all I use it for. I use an Amazon Fire tablet for everything else because they are amazing and indestructible. Therefore I cannot speak of anything but the music mp3 performance. It is the best $60 music player I have ever bought. It works just like my $100 plus Creative Zen did. It would hard to realistically call this a bad music player, or hard to use. By the way, some times you just press the button in the middle of the control surface, but it took me a while to realize the surface panel around the central button pivots up, down, left and right for the controls. For $60 dollars this is a little super portable wonder.

A shadow of its former self, not even worth it on sale
The Clip Sport is one of those MP3 players that used to be an amazing but tiny product. In the past, the only problem I ever had with every model I owned was that the piece holding the clip's spring in place would break after many months of use. This one's clip broke a week ago, after barely a month of using it. And I don't mean the part holding the spring. The actual clip itself has a big crack in it despite careful use and handling. Not surprising, though, considering it's thinner and much flimsier than older models. The worst part is that the player is absolutely sluggish now, taking actual seconds to switch songs and menus, and even just playing or pausing a single song causes the player to hang. Not only that, but it takes five to ten seconds for it to fully start up when turned on- assuming it doesn't freeze up or hang-, and its battery is somehow worse than the previous model. It's a shame, since this used to be a good go-to brand for small and affordable MP3 players. This is definitely not worth any measure of money, not even on sale.

Best Replacement for iPod Nano
Easy and intuitive to use with Apple. Playlists are created in the SanDics app window and songs are dragged and dropped from Music (formerly Itunes) into the playlists. Sound quality is good, the EQ settings are not as flexible as an iPod, but the "normal" setting seems perfect for all the music I've listened to on it. You can swap out the supplied earbuds for your own and the radio will work fine (the earbud cord is the antenna). Tuning the radio is a little tedious, but once the presets are in you're good, and the sound quality is fine and reception seems to be very good. Compatible with Audible. The battery is satisfactory compared to Ipods and other devices; size is very compact; the clip is handy for exercise, and I like the idea of buying a brand that I'm familiar with. A detailed owner's manual online which may be necessary right out of the box since the printed instructions are limited. I haven't tried on Windows, but the instructions seem fairly detailed for loading and transferring music. Overall I'm very pleased and have no complaints.

Won't play single tracks, and doesn't allow creation of playlists
I bought this for the kids' taekwondo tournaments. I need a device that can play one track and then stop. I cannot accept looping play of a single track, and cannot have the player autoplay the next track. Unfortunately, this device doesn't have that capability -- it can only reloop or autoplay the next track. I figured one klugey way to trick the device into playing a single track would be to create single-track playlists, one for each song. Although I'm quite skilled in generating M3U files, through text editors, Rhythmbox, Windows Media Player, Kid3-QT, and many others, and although I created valid M3U files using each approach, with valid relative filepaths, and loaded them onto the player, the player always showed the playlists as "[Empty]". On a whim, I tried multiple-song playlists and found the device couldn't find the files in those playlists either. I tried changing the permissions on all the playlists (to universal read, write, and execute), but that didn't help. I contacted SanDisk support, and unfortunately, they're trained to direct users to an unhelpful page of the user's manual that directs people to use an outdated version of Windows Media Player to generate M3U files. They seemed puzzled why that didn't work. SanDisk support wouldn't share the syntax for absolute file addressing in the MP3 player's native OS, and the device has no way through onboard software to create playlists, so I was pretty much stuck. It's a compact, light device with a nice screen and decent quality of output. It's a shame the software isn't functional. If all you want to do is load up the player with piles of files and not organize the play of them, I suppose it'd be pretty good. But it's just not what I'm looking for.

Fragile Clip that Breaks - Great for audiobooks - But the mp3s need to have good metadata.
2023-07-09 After less than one year of light use the clip broke, greatly reducing the utility of this player. The plastic plate broke parallel to the hinge line, about 1/4 of an inch from the hinge point. 2022-07-27 I only use this for audiobooks and it does everything I need. It is small, light and inexpensive and it lets me listen in situations that I would be reluctant to risk my cell phone. As long as I make sure that the metadata (i.e., track no, title and album) are sensible I've never had a problem. If I rely on file names alone everything is a jumble. So get yourself a free metadata editor (e.g., mp3tag) and make sure your metadata are good. Battery life is very good. The resume function will let you hop between books without losing your place in each book. The previous models never worked properly with an SD memory card, so it is just as well that they removed that. My first clip lasted about 10 years. The second gen clip about 5 years old and is still working and this 3rd (?) gen clip is working well.
