The best Chef knife there is - slices through everything like butter
I did a LOT of research on knives for months before making this purchase. I compared all the lines within like Wusthof & Zwilling, Japanese ones like Shun, Miyabi, Global etc. Wusthof in my opinion was the best all round winner - Quality, looks, durability, ease of maintenance and price. Moreover, this particular deal - Chef and paring knives for $172 is a steal. (Only the chef knife is worth $180 everywhere else). The Chef knife is a killer knife, slices through anything you want like its butter. And it feels absolutely perfect in your hands. Do not underestimate the paring knife - its fantastic for cutting fruits and vegetables - we use it everyday as well.I am sticking to my promise to only hand wash these.

I love these knives
I love these knives. They actually make me want to cook. They feel great in my hand. I think the Ikon handle makes the slightly higher price worth it. These are really the only two knives you need - all of the rest could easily be considered specialty knives. I have others but rarely ever use them. They are super sharp and have a beautiful edge right out of the box. I bought an electric sharpener to keep them tip top. The electric sharpener is worth it if you are here because your current knives are dull. It has revived some walmart specials to an amazing degree. If you enjoy cooking and your current knives cost less than $50, treat yourself. You'll understand why I brought them with me to my brothers house to cook.

Great Knives
I use these knives all the time. The smaller knife is so practical for cutting small veggies, cheeses and meat. The larger knife is a big bigger than I anticipated, however, it is working very well for carving meat and cutting bigger vegetables. They are very well balanced and stay sharp if you take care of them.

WUSTHOF IKONs
A bit pricey, but razor sharp and very comfortable to use. You won't be disappointed, but your wallet might be.

Tremendously sharp knife
These are suburb when it comes to a good kitchen knife. They're well worth the extra cost. My sister has owned a set for 15 years and they're what sold me on how sharp and well balanced they are. If your considering buying German steel knives please read carefully on where they're made. Some say German steel but are made in China. These are made in Germany

Quality!
If your a person that understands and appreciates quality, precision, and longevity… buy it. I have been using and adding to my assortment of these knives for 20 years and they are expensive but worth it. The engraved initials are a fantastic touch.

Exactly what I was looking for
These are exactly what I was looking for. I had an older set of Henkel knifes, but they are not even close to this quality. I wanted to just get a few really good knifes and these are perfect. They are sharp, good weight and feel good in my hand.

Love my Wusthof knives and these are no exception
Love my Wusthof knives and these are no exception.I went into stores (both Sur La Table and Williams Sonoma) when I was upgrading my knives. I handled a lot of knives before making my choice to go with the Wusthof line. I then bought knives at both stores and on Amazon (who ever had best price for the piece I wanted). My favorite of the Wusthof line is the Classic (not Ikon). It just fits my hand and I feel like I have the most control over those blades. That being said, from the reviews more people prefer the ergonomic handle on the Ikon - showing its just my personal opinion. What made me go with this Ikon set is that unlike the Classic, the bolster does not run the full height of the blade. As the paring and chef's are my most used blades, they will need sharpening far more often and not needing to file down a bolster is a selling point.Once I became accustomed to the handle on the chef (paring was never an issue) I was fine. I don't regret the purchase at all. I just recommend that because of the personal preference and fit of the user, you should always handle blades before buying them (especially if investing this much in an item you will have/use for many years to come.

Really happy with this purchase
Having used 2 or 3 brands of quality knives inc. Global & not got on with them, I took a gamble on these. What a great decision!Look good, razor sharp out of the box, easy to hold, well balanced, good weight, comfortable & being Wusthof, should hold their edge well & last a lifetime!Expensive yes, but should be worth it in the long run. This 2 knife set offers better value for money.Have bought a Wusthof 2 stage pull through sharpener, not ready for a whetstone yet!

Excelente producto
Estos cuchillos son excepcionales, el mango es muy cómodo, el peso es muy balanceado y el filo es de primera, se debe tener cuidado al usarlos ya que en verdad son muy filosos, es una inversión fuerte pero vale la pena en su totalidad

Reassuring grip, heft and sharp
I expect to enjoy the use of this quality instrument for many years to come.I am surprised by how much I find the handle and weight very comfortable to hold.Factory sharpness is excellent. Out of the box, sliced through navel oranges and the thick citrus skin with almost no effort.Heavier in hand than my only other cooks knife a very well used 8 year old Global Asian cooks knife- which has been my single and sole knife for food prep to opening food packages. The additional blade length (20cm vs 18cm) will be very useful.Btw, the smaller paring knife has a refreshing, equally reassuring heft for breaking down smaller food prep items.
