HelmsMate Tiller Extension Handle TE | 18"-24" Extendable

In description it states universal fit. Kinda true but not really. Apparently if your handle is smaller you have to write the company to receive a larger rubber insert for handle to fit. It's ridiculous they just can't put the extra little strip of rubber in the dang package to begin with. Now I have to write them a letter buy a stamp, wait for snail mail to get it to them so they can write me a letter with a piece of rubber in the envelope go buy a stamp and send snail mail back to me. I wouldn't get the damn thing until spring. It is just ridiculous to do all that for a rubber strip spacer that should come in the damn dox.

My 12'x12' 'Happy Hour' party barge has a 22" freeboard and powered by a Newport 62lb thrust trolling motor.Submerging the prop 12" below the water surface placed the tiller handle fairly close to the deck, making maneuvering an uncomfortable ordeal. This seemed like the answer to the problem and it was. I am extremely happy with this well made totally functional item.Anecdote. When not being used, I keep it in my home out of the elements. One morning I developed a painful Charley horse and used it as a cane to walk around the house to work it out.

I wanted the flexibility of an extension handle, but didn't want it to slip when using the adjustment so this handle locks into place so no slippage like most of the others out there. Just doesn't make any sense to have a twist to extend function when you have to do the exact thing to use the various throttle speeds! With this one you don't so kudos to the manufacturer!! I do have a Minn-Kota trolling motor which this is advertised to fit, but mine did not until I removed the rubber sleeve on the extension handle, then it fit perfectly so no big deal. You will like this extension handle I'm sure.

I needed this to shift my weight forward in my dinghy. Now I can plane earlier and am faster!Btw I know it is for use at trolling speeds only but I am a pirate!

my motor has an eliptical handle i will have to re-do because this is set for round only, other then that and the outrageous price i see no reason to c/o -- you can make a straight shaft from pvc, find a universal for 5 bucks and you can make this one also --- (i am in an apt so cant do these things

Worked just perfect

Use it for my dinghy with a Minn Kota trolling motor. It is small boat so I'm figuring out the weight and balance. Much more comfortable than reaching way back. Takes some getting used to with the joint. I put masking tape with fwd, Rev and neutral at the end as a visual cue.

Works as expected. Have to get use to it, instead of foot control.

Very useful for for my sail boat not having to reach down to throttle back or reverse. Only downside is wish the handle had a thicker grip.

Fits nice and snug on my Yamaha 2.5 outboard. Just had to remove the rubber insert. Not flimsy at all. Need to try on the water now but I doubt I will have any troubles. Recommended so far!

Used for a couple months fishing on my Suzuki kicker. Poor fit and not compatible with the motor tiller. Usually a couple times each day vibration would loosen screws and have to retirement on the water. Now hanging in my garage and I am using a homemade extension made from PVC pipe (works way better).
