For some reason or other, a number of car manufactures think CDs are too "old school" to still include them in their car's audio system. Maybe they are right, but I'll bet they weren't thinking of those hundreds of thousand people who have libraries of CDs -- bought and paid for CDs. What are WE supposed to do? I certainly am not going to throw out my CD library or take the time to copy each of those 300 or so CDs to my smart phone or to little thumb drives that are going to definitely get lost in between the seats! (you KNOW they will!) and how do you know what is recorded on all the thumb drives you will have to carry around? No...I want to play my CDs like I always have in the three cars I've owned before this one and not have to take the time to transfer the content just because the car manufacturer wanted to save 100 bucks by not putting in a CD player. I want a CD insert that lists all the cuts on the CD so I know what to put in the player.So here's the solution: this beautiful little unit plays CDs; it's easy to use and fits perfectly in the center console storage space. I plugged it into the car's USB port and the audio system recognized it and paired immediately without my having to do anything, It indexed all the songs on the CD album and the sound was as I expected, great CD quality (not crappy MP3 quality, which is what it would be if I transferred the audio to a thumb drive as MP3s, which are the only practical way to do it with any kind of space saving).My one caveat about this unit is that I wish it had physical Start, Stop, Scan Forward and Scan Reverse buttons because it will all depend on the car's display software for perform these functions; my car's audio display screen, remarkably, has NONE of those rudimentary functions. All I can do on the car's display is go back or forward across each track. It would have been nice had the player itself included those function buttons. Other than that, this is such a lifesaver for old folks like us who still have their CD collection and simply will not chuck them all out and rely on other sources for the music we want, nor relish the prospect of needing to spend hours transfer tons of CDs to some other format just to be able to hear the music on my Civic Hatchback. Bad, BAD Toyota!-------------------------------------UPDATE: what I also discovered this unit would grately benefit having is a hinged door on the CD slot. One that opens for you to place the CD into the player. Why? Because the only way I found that made sense on where to mount the unit was in the console between the seats. And that meant it is oriented standing up with its "mouth" i.e., the slot where the CD player is ingested into the unit, is facing up. That means any dirt or food crumbs that accidentally fall anywhere near the console (come on, you KNOW you eat in the car) are going to fall into that CD opening slot. Even if you are meticulous in not letting ANYTHING fall near that open slot facing UPWARD, normal dust is going to settle into that forever wide open slot and do very nasty stuff to the mechanism inside. You KNOW that shortcoming of not having some sort of mechanical "door" that opens only when a CD is being put ingested in or being spit out, is going to cut the lifespan of this unit by years if you don't do something to fix it.My fix is a piece of soft packing material foam that i cut to the side of the pocket in the console where the unit is living. I leave that foam on top of the unit all the time other than when changing CDs. If you need to mount this unit facing up instead of horizontally, you better figure out how to protect the open CD slot to prevent debris from falling into it along with the CDs you put in and take out. Just sayin...word to the wise.

I was a little skeptical about purchasing this after reading the reviews but did so because there is nothing else out there that will work with our factory radio. We plugged Ver 2 into our 2020 Tucson and the first time (and only the first time) it worked great. We listed to several minutes, and changed tracks via the cars audio unit without any problems. We ejected the cd and inserted another, and that was it. The car can't find the usb device because the cd just spins inside for about 45 seconds then ejects itself. The self ejecting is all the unit does now. So with the unit not reading any cd's, the car will never recognize the unit and obviously will not play any more. I could get a replacement, but if the units are that quick to fail, I'm afraid it will happen again a short time past the available return ability. So I'm returning it now before that happens and will work on another option. Hate to use a simple player that plugs in via 3.5 mm jack, but might have to.

I have a 2019 Ford F150 truck with no CD player. Purchased this item and received it last week. Read and followed the set up directions and it seemed to work well. BUT, the first two CDs I played kept skipping and repeating between tracks. Thought it might be defective CDs so I purchased 3 brand new CDs and tried them. The same thing happens on all of them. At the end of a song it tries to shift to the next song but instead it repeats a few refrains and then jumps ahead on the next song. Does it after almost every song. I contacted Amazon who graciously agreed to send me a replacement. I will give that a try but wish I had read the other reviews before asking for a replacement because many other people have tried two of them and both units had the same problems. I will do another review when I try the next player.THIS IS MY SECOND REVIEW. I RECEIVED THE REPLACEMENT ITEM AND IT IS WORKING FINE. ALSO, THIS ONE CAME WITH ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS AND PICTURES THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE FIRST DELIVERY. APPARENTLY I INSTALLED THE FIRST ONE UPSIDE DOWN. THE ARROW MUST BE POINTING UP. I HAD NO IDEA. ALL IT IS FOR IS TO EJECT THE CD AND SINCE THEY WERE GOING IN AND OUT FINE I THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY. IT BEING UPSIDE APPARENTLY CAUSES THE SKIPPING PROBLEMS. THESE ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS WITH COLOR DEPICTIONS STATE QUITE CLEARLY THAT HAVING THE UNIT IN THE IMPROPER POSITION (I.E. UPSIDE DOWN IN MY CASE!) WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS. I DON'T KNOW WHY THOSE INSTRUCTIONS WERE NOT IN MY FIRST DELIVERED UNIT BUT BOTH OF THEM ARE NOW WORKING WELL. ITS ONLY BEEN A FEW DAYS BUT I'M HOPING FOR CONTINUED GOOD FUNCTION. BASED ON THIS I CAN NOW RECOMMEND THE UNIT AND GIVE IT 5 STARS.
