BLACK+DECKER 2-Slice Toaster, TR1278B, Extra Wide Slots, 7 Shade Settings, 850 Watts, Frozen and Bagel Buttons

My sister's old toaster gave out so I bought her this one and she loves it. It has a control that is very accurate every time. Super durable and looks like it's the king of toasters. She has had it for a while, and she says she never burns bread or English muffins at all. So simple to use. Press the lever down and come back when it pops up.

Received today. Came new in box. I just moved so I needed a new toaster & since everything else in my kitchen is black & stainless steel this was one of the main reasons I went with this model. This brand has usually for the most part been reliable. I have no issues with any of the problems others are stating. I used it within a few hours of receiving, it was packaged well so nothing would get broken during transit. I toasted a bagel & I have to say that it was really one of the best toasted bagels I have had. It was very lightly toasted on outside & done to perfection inside. This was on setting 4 as they recommend with first use. To use the bagel feature, (which I love & many toasters do NOT have this choice and are not wide enough), you FIRST push the lever down with bagel in toaster of course & then push the bagel button on the front of toaster-VIOLA!! 👍🏻. The crumb tray is secure & if used properly should stay that way. As for the cord as someone else posted, if you lift up the bottom you can wrap the cord around the prongs so you can have it come out wherever you would like. It sits flat with no problem. I spent much more on my last toaster and I didn't get as high quality results. It is not too flimsy, it is as sturdy as a toaster should be. One of my favorite things is the nice wide openings! I am a bagel eater, most toasters, even though they say extra wide, are not always wide enough for FRESH bagels (the little frozen ones, sure, but not the fresh ones). This toaster was definitely wide enough with some space for the bagel to loosely fit in, not smashed in! Love the colors, matches perfectly in my kitchen. This toaster is nice… I find #3 setting to be perfect. The only thing I don’t like, is the top part of the toaster (the silver part) gets extremely hot. Be careful when taking out the toast…

I just bought my second B&D toaster - the first one I bought several years ago is finally starting to show it's age, in that it's taking a longer time to toast, which I attribute to poss. some of the elements are failing after I'm sure havbe been thousands of pieces of perfect toast! . the following review is from my first purchase, and still applies - I had tried several well known brands, none of which matched the performance of the B&D : here is my original review: I want my toast to be evenly toasted on BOTH sides, regardless of whether I toast 1 or 2 slices at a time - is that so much to ask? but with Cuisinart, then Krups then Amazon Basic toaster - apparently so! unbelievably! Krups was fast, but toast came out toasted on one side, practically white on the other, and not even warm all the way thru. Not to mention the metal sides were burning hot. Sent it back. Then surely Cuisinart - but same deal , one slice toasting yielded a 1/2 toasted piece of bread. so ok let me try the Amazon basic. same thing, plus a really annoying tone when it pops up. About to give up, I tried the Black and Decker - no fancy features, tho it will toast bagels, it has a quick release button, and other basics. & sides don't get hot to the touch, yay. and FINALLY - an evenly toasted piece of toast!! Thank you Black & Decker! the only thing I don't like is that the settings dial does not click , so hard to know what setting you're on without closely looking. But I can live with that!

I totally love this toaster! Probably one of the best toasters I've ever purchased. Terrific value for the money spent, this Black & Decker toaster is an Amazon Warehouse deal and it was supposed to have obvious cosmetic damage on it and I don't see ANY damage to the appearance whatsoever! This toaster has multiple settings for toasting darkness which is a temperature control. There's a setting for frozen pastry, one for bagel and the slice basket that grips the bread adjusts to the thickness of your bread, bagle, waffle or English muffin automatically! Very easy to use! This toaster cooks evenly on both sides of whatever type of bread you are toasting. I love the quick release trap door style bottom for crumb release into the trashcan or garbage disposal in your sink! I will bet this Black & Decker toaster will last me 20+ years of daily use. I've had many toasters in my lifetime and always went the cheap way out and of course got exactly what I paid for too. This time I found an Amazon Warehouse Deal for a quality name-brand toaster with supposedly cosmetic flaws and ended-up with the best toaster I ever bought! Thank you Amazon for those Warehouse Deals!

Thus far, this toaster has been working up to par and as expected. I like the classy look. I didn't even need to change the settings it was on (it recommends to try it as they have it set and then if you need to, to adjust). I have not done large things (i.e. bagels), but it's been perfect for my toast. The crumb cleaner/drainer things at the bottom works very nicely and I'm sure if I can find some of that computer air spray that people use for their keyboards I can clean the top groves even better to keep it looking really nice. Glad I purchased. Update***as of 5/8/15. About 5 days after the 30 day return policy I was unable to make any toast. I would push the lever down and it would pop back up. I tried maneuvering settings and just trying it different pressures to see if it was just a glitch, but it wouldn't come to life. I knew it was out of the 30 days, but I contacted Amazon anyway, spoke with a live person and was able to return my product for a new one. I have not started using the toaster as of yet, due to a series of events. I will update if anything happens again. Seems like a decent product, just maybe got a bad one. Amazon is the best. Keep it up :) Update***as of 8/5/15: this is still going and works like I expect a toaster to work. I am grateful it's still working after my breakdown earlier this year. I would buy again. I see there are LOTS of different ratings. Maybe you need to try for yourself. They are good to work with and returns are smooth.

Weeks later - had to update -- I previously gave this 5 stars but have altered it to 3. It no longer seems to work evenly -- see attached image. The two waffles shown in image were toasted at the same time for the same length of time. One is burned and the other is hardly even toasted. ####################################### This is a good toaster, works well and toasts evenly. The one thing a bit confusing are the "frozen" and other buttons. I believe you first add your frozen item to toast, then depress the lever to activate toasting and finally press the "frozen" button. However, nothing really lights up or shows that the "frozen" button has been activated. It's not really a big deal though and my frozen waffles do come out very nicely toasted. All in all, it is a good value for the price.

Of course I read all of the other reviews, but then I found one that totally put me at ease because the writer addressed each of the concerns that everyone else was bringing up. Om, so it's a toaster - how do you screw that up? Actually, this toaster is saving me thousands of dollars because I had been thinking of re-doing my kitchen and one of the things I wanted was a dedicated space for a toaster oven. Long story, but my old B&D under-cabinet toaster oven won't toast any more and when hunting for a replacement I couldn't find one that would fit in the space where the current one hangs. So I put off the remodel project and purchased this to hold me over. This regular ol' toaster has been toasting up a storm since it arrived a few weeks ago. I've toasted bagels and Ezekiel Bread and everything comes out PERFECT every time. The trap door underneath stays closed after emptying the crumbs. The cord stays in place in the little track on the underside. The Cancel button works great. My toast is toasted evenly. I haven't burned up my kitchen with it. It's easy-to-clean and matches to my stainless appliances. What more would I want??? (Oh, right....a new kitchen!)

There were a lot of mixed reviews on this toaster when I bought it- but I'm glad I decided to go with this one. It is easy to use, easy to clean and gets the job done. It is nothing fancy, but if you are looking for a good standard toaster, this one is reliable and fully functioning after a solid 6 months of use.

The toasting isn't super even but I didn't expect it to be. Works well and I get my morning toasts so it does its job.

I use this every morning to toast some bread or bagles. I looks clean so it stands on my counter simply...
