Crochet Bags

I am so impressed with this book, especially considering the price! It was delivered quickly with no damage. A good variety of different kinds of cute purses. I have been crocheting for years now so I’m pretty experienced. I’m always looking for new patterns and books to pick up and try! I ran into this and thought for the price I couldn’t go wrong. I did not expect such a nice book. It is spiral bound with a nice feel to the pages. You can open it up flat which is nice when your trying to read the pattern as you go you don’t have to fight to keep your page! It is large so the print is easier to read. Most of the patterns are laid out nice and clear for you. This would be great for any Beginner as it has detailed description and instructions of all the stitches and abbreviations used for patterns. Step by step directions so you can learn each of the stitches before going to make your purse. There is Even a section on finishing techniques, edging and joining! As stated great for any beginner to have this to reference even if they are not making something out of this book. There is also a nice selection of different types of purses to make! I have ordered enough yarn to make three of them already and I can’t wait to get started!! My only real complaints would be.. on the hobo purse pattern it says for materials: leather purse strap. I wish they would let you know what they used exactly to fit the purse. How thick of a strap? How long? I don’t see dimensions for the finished project either so I don’t really know the size of it yet. I’m going to make the purse and then decide what to get because of this. Some of them do list sizes for certain patterns extra materials but I also noticed the same with the round handle bag it has plastic handles and it just says 2 round handles instead of letting you know what exact size you should use. Finished dimensions of the purses would remedy this as I could take a more accurate guess. Actually it would just be nice to know the size anyways. As far as things that could be wrong I consider this to be a minimum thing and still give five stars and highly recommend!! I am especially so extremely excited to make the Granny messenger bag!! It’s so cute and I love granny squares! Can’t wait to carry it around and make my family and friends some kick butt purses!!

NEGATIVE: I'd have given 4 an 3/4 stars, except you can't give a fraction of a star. The deduction would be for the fact that they say, "make a magic ring," and then don't give any instructions to make one. The only problem is I'd never heard of a "magic ring" and thus had to search Youtube until I found an instructor who wasn't doing it so fast, that I couldn't follow it. Also it would have been nice if a lining pattern was included for the "Granny Messenger Bag," as small items can and will fall out through the holes naturally left by Crocheted work. POSITIVE: It is an awesome book, and well made. Literally loaded with beautiful photographs of the projects. Heavy glossy paper that will last a long time. Spiral bound so that it will stay open. Great price. Beautiful stitch instructions.

I’ve only begun making one of the bags and I am compelled to write this review. First of all, there are more pages of stitch patterns and finishing touches than there are of actual bag patterns. But more importantly, the patterns do not tell the yardage necessary to complete a project. Knowing the number of skeins needed is not an accurate way to buy materials as yardage varies in different types of yarn. I found this out the hard way when I realized I would not have enough yarn and the store had no more! So far, the instructions have been clear and I’m confident that the bag will be successful. I’d say buy extra yarn, keep the sales slip, and return if it’s extra.

It is a pretty good book for some stitches I have never used before. I don't know what a whipstitch is but I'm sure it can't be too hard to discover with YouTube. I used the pattern for a starting point and I really liked the appearance of the scalloped edges so from there I turned it into my own style. I honestly really enjoyed the simplicity of the pattern. I felt free to modify it my own way. I think it's a great book and I'm really pleased with my purchase. Although, by the time I was done I don't think mine looks all that much like the picture. ☺️ I really wanted to add my own strap that wouldn't be so much like a rope. I have one I can attach after I crocheted the hooks (as seen in my photo). I'm a little new to crochet. Mostly I do amigurumi for my little one. I wanted to try something different and it was fun. I also thought most of the stitches were pretty basic. I guess experience makes some difference. But, I don't think it would be bad for a beginner. Don't be afraid to try different things once you get comfortable. There is a lot of room for creative freedom.

This crochet book piggy backs off one of the other books that I have. This book teaches more complex stitches, like the Chevron, popcorn stitches, and cross stitches. The book teaches the stitches with written words and pictures. Then the patterns for a variety of purses and bags is shown in the back half of the book. Great book, durable spiral bound.

This book is pretty and easy to read, but I was disappointed that it was so small & less patterns than I assumed. I bought 3 spiral bound books by the same author. One was just crochet bags, which has easy patterns but none are super unique patterns and most you could probably get as a free pattern online, or on YouTube. All three should have been just one book together. Kinda disappointed and possibly will return or donate to my local library.

This has very cute patterns. I’ve already made some. If you like crocheting buy this
