Q: What octave does this tune to?

Same as a regular electric bass

It is an acoustic-electric. That being said, it's not very loud as an acoustic - just loud enough to practice - which is great for an NYC apartment. It was a Christmas present for my daughter along with a 25 watt amp. The black model comes with the metal-wound strings which sound more like an electric bass through the amp.

Q: Does this come with a warranty? Mine had a crack in the neck when I got it and now it's busted.

I don't know about a warranty but if it had a crack in the neck when you got it you should have sent it back then.
