Life Application New Testament Commentary (Life Application Bible Commentary)

This commentary uses the NLT translation for its reference. It has proven to be valuable for understanding specific verses, or at the least, getting a better understanding of what Scripture is saying. A good addition to the library.

I am a person who loves bible commentaries. I have several on my shelf, including the HarperCollins Bible Commentary and the Oxford Annotated NRSV Study Bible for reference. And yes, I intentionally mentioned those as quality commentaries. Many of those, however, are purely scholarly and utilize historical criticism as their lens to interpret the bible. These are valuable perspectives, but they have no "soul" in the sense that they are unconcerned with the application of faith. In fact, one need not even believe in God to utilize the historical critical method to interpret the bible. The risk of using purely historical critical commentaries is that the believer risks falling into a sort of secular humanistic view of the bible and the Christian faith, to which some denominations today have largely succumbed. The Life Application New Testament Commentary, on the other hand, is mostly (as the title suggests) about applying the bible to one's life. It does contain some historical and scholarly material, but that is not why I use this commentary. I own a Life Application bible, and while that study bible is wonderful, this commentary goes much deeper into the text and life application. I have to say, the more I refer to it, the more I love it. In terms of applying the bible to one's life, this commentary is excellent and I simply cannot offer it enough praise. And it accomplishes all of this without any recognizable sectarian bias. I highly recommend it, and would love to see a volume dedicated to the Old Testament as well!

Appreciate the commentary which includes how to apply gospel truth to everyday life. My heart leaps for joy when reading because it makes the gospel Simple to understand yet profound revelations! After telling my experience of using this, I had a friend purchase one as well. She absolutely loves it. Another friend recently asked me what was that commentary you were using again?! Looks like She will be making a purchase next:)

One of my favorite study tools

Compared to other commentaries, not my favorite. But I’ve been leading Bible studies for years. I prefer more in-depth commentaries.

I really like this commentary. We just read through the New Testement and used this alot. It says ENOUGH but not TOO MUCH if you know what I mean. When I am reading the bible I don't want to go into another book for a verse. I might have a question on that verse that needs clarifying and this does just that. It also gives you the views of others which I like alot but for sure was a help in knowing if I was on the right track or not to what I got when I read my bible. I suggest you always PRAY before you read and God has a way of making the bible clear to you. Just because a person is a BRAIN on the biblle doesn't mean he knows what it means. Becareful people NOT to take mans word over God's. I have found when I read and look up people that most people really do not understand what they are reading and it's really not that hard. Some over think to the point they miss the point. Some under thing and that's alright to as long as they believe in God, I think he will show them the way. But some of us want to dig deeper and NOT be fooled by man. The bible says SEEK and ye shall find, that's us lol. Just becareful and always take GOD over some mans explanation. I loved this commentary it's a keeper!!!!

Life Application Bible have one of the best commentary. Only a spirit fill person with wisdom from above can actually have understanding of what God's word is saying. There is so much misinterpretation of the scriptures out there, God's people have to be very careful of what we take in. Some people may want to come across that this is too simple for them because they have a master degree or what ever else in theology, so this commentary is too simple for them. Well this not the kind of attitude any child of God should have. First Of all God word tells us not to use wisdom of words, in other words, it is the simple language that helps bring understanding to his people. It is not persuasive words. People who try to use God's word to impress others are carnal minded. It is the sincere truth that convicts our hearts for our lives to be changed. Thank God for his blessing.

Excellent service

I received the Life Application New Testament Commentary on time and excellent condition. My opinion this is a great book when studying the Bible. Every verse is covered in a way everyone can understand and learn. I wouldn’t be without it. A must for every Christian learning the Bible

Very good commentary easy to read and understand

This contains the notes from the Life Application Study Bible but expanded and better. Really useful as a preaching aid as the notes are both scholarly and relevant to everyday life.
