GSC Tall Utility Cabinet

I chose the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet primarily because of its lockable doors, size, and price. If I need another item like this in the future, I will definitely consider spending more to acquire a higher quality product.It's definitely easy to assemble (with no tools needed), but there are some issues with the parts fitting with precision. There's no "satisfying click" with many of the parts, and many of the satisfying clicks are accompanied by very unsatisfying bulges appearing in areas that previously clicked. Quite a few of the finishing parts are ever-so-slightly too big to fit cleanly in their slots; they are functional, but give the cabinet a very cheap look.The worst aspect is definitely quality control. The box that it came in was in very good shape, with no dents or dings. The parts, however, were not. Both of the backing pieces (thin plastic) had several cracks in them, and both the top and bottom had one broken "foot." There are fortunately several extra shelf supports, because one of them was missing and three were melted.Overall, the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet will serve my needs, but will require some alterations on my part to make it durable. If it were easier to disassemble, re-pack, and return it, I would.Would I recommend it to a friend? If their primary concern was price, I would, but with hesitation. If they were more concerned with quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

This item looked good and it was just what I was looking for my garage. When it arrived the tape was half way off the top of the box. When I opened the rather flimsy box this medium heavy item was in, several broken black plastic pieces fell out. They were from the very thin black support pieces that seemed to have been broken by the black plastic foot supports that were just loose in the box. I opened the other end and the black plastic was also broken, probably from being banged around while shipped.the sturdier white plastic parts appeared to be intact. I never took the item out of the box, as there was no point. I just re-taped it and returned it, very disappointed, as I had worked half to the day to get the spot ready where it was to be. Now I had a mess in my garage and no place to put the items in that I was planning to use this for!In short, if the manufacturer had used a little firmer box and added some kind of foam or cardboard bumpers/supports at both ends and packed the loose items in foam then this could have been avoided.When I got the replacement, a few weeks later, it was a repeat of the first shipment. I returned it also and canceled the order altogether. Two times with the same problem is one time too much for me. I feel the third time would have been just the same.

Once assembled the cabinet is flimsy and there is a gap between the back panel and the side panels; but if your plan is to simply have this cabinet squirreled away in a basement/utility room, to store items that are rarely used, it seems serviceable. Back to the assembling, the pictorial directions are somewhat confusing; the parts list does not include how many of each part should be included. There are some parts (black plugs) that we have no clue where they belong. The back panels are very flimsy. It takes two people to assemble simply because it is like trying to “push a rope” when setting the back panels in their tracks.

Recommend that manufacturer pack the numerous parts better. The first package had a broken part, and the second package had the same broken part. Thankfully there were two of these parts (the bottom and the top) but there wasn't any insulation to buffer the fragile parts. The cabinet is as advertised. It fits our needs.

It came in a very flimsy box that got pretty beat up during shipping. The parts are very cheap plastic that break easily and don't fit as well as they should during assembly. I would not put anything heavy on the shelves. This is suitable for light storage located in an environment where it's protected from being bumped into and potentially damaged. I would not buy this again.

Item arrived broken. I hot glued it together and sent in for the replacement items per the company directions. That was in August. This is December and so far I've heard nothing.
