Terrific product, for what it does!
Terrific product, for what it does; and it's not intended to do everything. It's intended to be used with your own personal utensils, toothbrush, etc. your utensil and toothbrush handles need to be a small diameter, because these individual items get inserted into the center core of the foam, to be held in place. A large diameter items such as a hairbrush, electric toothbrush, etc. will not fit into the foam core of the 'adapter'/cuff. The plastic ring on the Velcro strap is useful for tightening/closing the Velcro strap around your hand with a single finger of your other hand. Or, using your teeth (it's nicer to bite on a ring, then to bite on a Velcro strap). I personally like the ability to wear this cuff 'loosely' around my right hand, so that I can choose a preferred angle, of the utensil, while I am eating; some cuffs are too rigid when it comes to setting up the utensil-to-hand angle, whereby, limiting or frustrating the user. I have hand neuropathy which makes it impossible for me to grip a utensil, so I have to use a wrist splint in combination with this universal cuff. It was a game changer for me, because with these 2 items on my right hand I can feed myself; which was a significant step towards independence. Don't hesitate purchasing this to try it out; you just won't know if it will work for you unless you evaluate it with your own personal items. But, know that, again, it does not accommodate large handled utensils or other items.

Difficult to use if you can't twist your wrists
I bought this for my grandmother (83) which has Multiple Sclerosis and do to her condition she cannot move her right arm (not even lift it, move hands). However she still have some control of her left hand but she still cannot close all her fingers or grab things. With that in mind I thought this Universal Quad Cuff would be helpful but since she cannot twist her wrist she is unable to properly guide/steer the metal spoon attached to the cuff into her mouth. Since she lift her hand (and the cuff) by using practically her entire arm and while her hand stays loose (see attached pictures to see what I'm referring) the spoon rarely went directly into her mouth. From my observations this happens because she is unable to twist her wrists to reposition the spoon. Another thing I noticed is that this cuff is prone to easily move the plate from the original position you had it. You basically are pushing the plate side by side (or front/back) when you are trying to take a bite out of the plate. I think this can be prevented by using a heavier plate or by using the other hand to hold the plate (sadly not an option for my grandmother). For the pros side of things this cuff has the big advantage of letting you attach metal spoons, forks and they won't feel heavy at all (according to my grandmother, who with much difficulty lifts a plastic spoon). Also the spoon won't fall off no matter what you do.

Made eating easier for woman with tremors
This product was recommended by my mom's occupational therapist to help mom feed herself. Mom is 82 years old and her hand tremors were making it difficult to hold a utensil steady. This item gave her more control of spoons and forks and was very helpful when coupled with using a bowl so she could push the food up along the side of the bowl and onto the utensil. Definitely helped!

I don't normally rate a product!!!! ...
I don't normally rate a product!!!! But I am this time around..... This was finally a break through for our Grandson with CP. He is 13 years and is able to eat using this cuff. A little more independence goes a long way once you become a teenager!!!!!!

Does what it needs to
Using my hands is incredibly difficult. This cuff has made eating so much easier. Had I the time, I could have easily made this product, it looks hand made and is a little cheap looking. But, it works and that's my greatest concern!

Not sure if it is good.
Tried it on my dad, who is visually impaired and he did not like it. He never got to use it to eat. I really canโt say if it is effective or not.
