This little book lists and explains the items the author Anson Bonds, would carry in a Altiods tin for survival purposes. The list is an excellent list, and contains several items I would not have thought of.Anson does augment his tin with several much larger, very necessary items such as map, tarp, that should be in any outdoors man possible's bag. He does discuss the issue of carrying snare wire and recommends against it, in favor of a two stick deadfall.The book is exactly what it states it is. It is a basic list of survival items and how they can easily be carried, contained, in a pocket or small pack. I think it would take a lot of maneuvering and folding to get all the items listed into an Altoids tin. This is not an attempt to break new ground or to be research or novel. It intends to be and is a practical, affordable, little book suggesting a survival tin and its contents. As such it succeeds very well.

Really like this book. It has very detailed tips on surviving if stranded in the wilderness. It tells you how to pack a "survival tin" to be ready and also your odds of surviving certain situations . It is definitely a must read for any outdoor enthusiast, doomsday fan, or an author looking to write an adventure or survival tale !

Everyone carries a survival kit - it's between the ears. This short book gives good advice on the basic equipment one can carry in a small tin to adapt, improvise and overcome. The survival tin will never replace a backpack full of gear or an RV, but it will allow one to handle the three important survival factors: water, fire and rescue. This book is pretty straight forward and is a great beginning. It also helps reinforce certain principles to those of us who have been doing this for awhile.

Solid information in a small package. This provides a concise, well thought out guide to setting up a kit in a tin.

This book was a little short and on the basic side for me but I did enjoy some of the new ideas and tips it had. It was written with practicality in mind and I can tell the author had tried and perfected the tin for their personal use but as the book also states, everyone's needs will vary. I like the idea of carrying something small like a tin on my person in addition to my BoB but I think it will take lots of trial and error to ensure the practicality of tin.

if you want a FAST , simple , strateforward READ on survival subject and priorities , Anson "done good" ! have several of his books on my kindle and even grab on the way to the "throne" .... yup , that good ;o) a little TOO concise and still , to LEARN from fisrt point of interest , you'll enjoy . i give a rating of "two knives up !!"

Awesome book series it’s something you should know about, and what to do with your altoids cans after you are done with it.

A rather short book with a lot of good information. While the information is practical, the practice of carrying such a tin is not quite so. A stronger argument could have been made for carrying one. The average person in an urban setting has very little use for such an item; however, on any long trip or camping excursion, a survival tin would be incredibly helpful. This book is a great source for making your own survival tin. I would recommend it to anyone that spends a lot of time outdoors or someone about to go on a trip to enjoy the wilderness but wants to be a little more prepared. Boy Scouts would also profit from this information as they endeavor to "Be Prepared".

If you go out and about walking, hiking in the outdoors then a little tin with some essential items may save your life if things go wrong! Recommended!
