Photographic Blackout Tape
I got this to use in a photo business, and thought I would save some money over the twice as expensive 3M brand. This tape is not opaque. Light from a flashlight comes right through. I went back to an old roll of the 3M material and it is truly opaque, so you get what you pay for. Note: If this tape is doubled up it will be as opaque as could be needed for photo work. This WILL NOT block all the light from direct sun, so beware of that if trying to seal off a window or something. Again, double it up in bright light. For masking or litho work, this tape will work fine. It has a nice fine edge and trims easily. Since it takes twice as much tape as the 3M version, frankly, it comes out to about the same price so might as well buy the 3M if truly opaque is needed.

Is it possible to fall in love with a roll of tape?
Amateur alert: I got inspired during the quarantine to play around with photogrammetry 3d image software using modeling clay. I needed a way to black out a lot of things in my photos because my initial results were less than stellar. A quick search led me here and I took a chance. After using it for a few weeks now, I can definitively say I love this tape.I have a terrible history with tape. Shredding clear tape trying to grab at an invisible seam, throwing duct tape away that stuck to itself the second I looked away, weeping as the beautiful washi tape gently falls to the floor within seconds of application. You get the idea.Enter Shurtape: a black knight clad in whatever the complete opposite of shining armor is. Not tacky at all, black on both sides, and possibly sentient- it knows exactly what I want it to do. It's strong where I need it to be, rips where I want it to easily, comes off super easily, and most importantly, transformed my ultra-low budget, desk-sized, photography studio into a void so black that I'm shocked that I was able to escape it and write this review. All my models are now finished and they look great. I'm still not even sure if there was a more appropriate tape that the professionals use when they're in my situation but this one was absolutely perfect for me. I also love the texture/matte look it gives objects- if I were rich I'd use it as wallpaper.TLDR: It was a little pricey for me but I really can't recommend it enough. Excellent product.

The only matte black photo tape
Shurtape is THE ONLY TAPE OF ITS KIND. Do not buy other black tapes and expect them to be matte finished. P743 is the standard in the film and photography industry. It's expensive and worth it.

Versatile Tape for Lighting
I’m a cinematographer and I use this paper tape specifically to create patterns on an empty frame and then use a 2k or higher light to light through to create shadows on the background of my image. This tape does not smoke up from the heat of the lighting equipment which is great!

Just as Ordered
Great product at a great price. If you need "paper" tape - this works great.

Much better than other black paper tape
Excellent flat black color and good adhesion. Black on the tape side also. Great for photo/production work and for blacking out light leaks when you don't want to use gaff.

Clean area first
Works great but you have to clean your bellows first. I use rubbing alcohol in the area you want to place the tape otherwise it will not hold
