Helpful for Advanced Organic Chem Lab
The list of abbreviations and common solvent names is great for writing experimental sections on lab reports for Advanced Organic Chemistry Lab. The reference examples are also particularly helpful for citing sources in the intro, etc. I look forward to using this again in Polymers Lab and would recommend to any college student who doesn't want to annoy their TA with formatting questions. Only downside is the price.

don't know what I'd do without it!
I'm a science copyeditor, and I truly don't know how I'd manage without this book. If it has to do with chemistry, it's here (thank heaven!). And there's a wealth of clear information about how to format math, a wonderful list of unit abbreviations, and even a fair amount about physics- and biology-related terminology. It has the most lucid and concise explanations I've seen about when to apply italics or roman. And it's reasonably priced. Of course, if you specifically need to follow ACS style, this book is de rigeur, but even if you don't, you'll find it invaluable for science copyediting.

Absolutely invaluable
In anticipation of starting my own business as a freelance scientific editor, I bought several style guides, one of which was this style guide and including the highly recommended "Scientific Style and Format" from CSE. The ACS Style Guide is the one I use the most, and now it's falling apart and I need to purchase another. I absolutely can't do without it!

Useful reference
The ACS style guide outlines the key features of the grammar/language/presentation preferred by publications of the American Chemical Society. While not as comprehensive as other guides (Chicago Manual of Style, Oxford Style Guide etc), it provides much information of specific interest to chemists. The sections on experimental data and word usage are especially useful, containing plenty of examples from the ACS literature.Overall, a useful purchase for anyone working/publishing in chemistry. Although it is available for free via the ACS website, being able to quickly flick through a book rather than logging and and downloading a PDF chapter is convenient enough to justify the purchase.

Writing A Paper in ACS format
It's useful for referencing and in text citation in ACS style. It also contains advice that again relates to ACS style such as how to format tables and figures, and many more.
