Splendid for any open mind.
This is a superb collection of poetry, whether for the trained ear or not. It is indeed music to the mind.

quirky and great
Whether you haven't looked at a poetry anthology since high school or you regularly consult shelf that's full of them, this anthology is arranged in a quirky way that leads to serendipitous finds and full of poems worth finding.

The Rattle Bag
This great poetry book is out of print but you can still order used copies. This is the second copy of "The Rattle Bag" I've ordered. I wanted a second copy so that I could send it to a friend and share the wonderful poetry in this collection. The latest order has a different cover - not important - but the print is crooked and slopes on the page. The page numbers appear to be the same, though, so we can still share poetry by referencing just the page numbers in our emails.

A Wonder
This collection is a masterpiece, and its companion volume the School Bag is every bit as good. While the collection includes many classics, the various obsessions of the editors have led them to uncover works that you are unlikely to have read before.I return to this anthology again and again.

Brilliant and Bountiful
This is a brilliant and bountiful poetry collection. Its very variety, of course, means it can't help but be a bit uneven (subjectively so), but, all in all, it's been a tremendous pleasure. I spent the last year and a half reading one poem a day, and there was hardly a one that wasn't enjoyable from one aspect or another.

A poetry spectrum
Not my anthology, so no room to complain about any of the content. I bought it to read and savour and enjoy and to learn from. Naturally, some doesn't work, but overall, the book covers a broad range of poets and subjects.Recommended.

Poetry for non-specialists
A superb and pretty much up-to-date selection of poetry ideal for dipping before more thorough entries. Made by two absolutely top practitioners. Good as a class introduction rather than academic approaches to the subject or boredom in the Victorian body of work.Poetry is nothing if not freely selected and fun. This anthology makes such an introduction possible.

Rattle Bag Review
If you looking for a good poetry anthology you cannot go wrong we this one. It's a good selection of poets organised with the poems in Alphabetical order, which is a little unusual. You therefore get poems by Emily Dickinson next a poem by Ogden Nash. It's one of my favourite anthologies and I use it all the time in study of poetry and getting inspiration.

Great fun to dip into
Being organised alphabetically, this collection discourages the reader from attempting any systematic reading of the poems. Instead, you are encouraged to just take a 'lucky dip'. The choices are inspired and different from most anthologies. Marketed as a children's book, but equally inspiring for adult reading.
