A Classic Must-Have WCW
You know you want it. If you consider yourself a WCW fan, you need it. I just purchased this volume and volume 2 and it was worth every penny.

Seemingly complete
Seemingly complete, but not very engaging. For those that love the Wheelbarrow and Rainwater poem, I believe that is something to be had in this. It may be hard to find, amongst all the others.I came away from this book thinking that he was evolving to fit an emerging pattern of cellphones, mass-media, and multi-media, caught in a past age, while attempting to collect his thoughts about a future that meant something to him.The poems are not futuristic, but they have insight about the future. The poems are tangible and intelligent at the same time. I would not call W C Williams an abstract poet (which is my preference. Most other poets deride the concept that a poet could be abstract in the first place). If you came on the scene expecting the W.C. Williams would be the next Dickinson, you will be sorely disappointed. But every poet has a unique voice.

William Carlos Williams (you need to know more?)
I had to write something similar on Volume II--just typing to fill the word count. This is William Carlos Williams. That's it.

Neither volume contains Paterson
The titles of these books are misleading. When a book bills itself as the writer's collected poems, I expect it to include *all* the poems. he has written. Not just some of them. I bought both volumes so that I would be sure to have Paterson. However, the books say on the *back* cover--which is somewhat inconvenient to read on the Internet-- that neither volume includes Paterson. Thus, the title does not match what the volumes actually offer and the publishers only make this clear on the back cover, not on the front.I love WCW but don't like the way this collection was marketed. It was misleading.

Early poems
I needed Volume 1 in order to complete The Collected Poems of William Carlos Williams. Only the imagination is real.
