is marked horribly, and has all sorts of inaccuracies
This map was just ok. I used this map with two girlfriends and I for the Trans Catalina Trail Hike. We did the hike from Mon-Fri and covered not only the 37.2 miles of the TCT, but ended up at around 56 miles total. The reason is this trail starts almost 3 miles from the ferry, is marked horribly, and has all sorts of inaccuracies. The Map listed here, it's more for boat and diver folks. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a good TCT map, there really isn't one. We used a combination of this map, and the map listed on the Catalina Conservancy website, which we printed up and marked/wrote on.It would be WONDERFUL if someone made a specific map for the TCT. As of now, you should buy this map, and print the other one out, and use the combo, along with your GPS. Not that it's easy to get lost...there is a lot of fire road walking, and trails that are close to the roads....but there are sections where the buffalo trails are strong, and the hiking trail is not. Both maps help here.If you are looking for a dive/boat map, this works great. Just wish it was more useful for the hiking on the island. Hopefully they will update it and do so.

Great Map!
Excellent map! I can't wait to visit Santa Catalina Island now! As a cartographer (mapmaker) myself, I'm often quite particular about the maps I buy and I've always found Mr. Nielsen's maps accurate, clear, informative, and entertaining. This map is no different. If anything, now that Franko is reissuing some/all/many of his old "Franko's" maps under the new "Green Planet Maps" brand, I think he's making the new ones even better than the older versions! The amount of information is indescribable!
