A Super PWRgate is a 12 volt backup power system rated at 40 amperes continuous from either a Power Supply or a Battery. The Super PWRgate has a built-in four-stage battery charger with selectable current rates of 1, 4, 7 or 10 amperes. Connected equipment will instantly switch to battery during a power blackout or power supply failure. Uses two 80 ampere Schottky diodes as an OR-Gate to isolate the battery and power supply from each other. Forward voltage drop of less than 0.3 volts at 20 A. Optimized for use with GELLED & AGM type batteries, but will keep flooded lead acid and marine type batteries near full charge as well. Measures 1.64" x 3.9" x 5" and uses Anderson Powerpole connectors. Powerpole is a registered trademark of Anderson Power Products. SOLID performance
We use these for WISP tower sites that MUST stay online. Plenty of capacity, solidly built, never had one problem with these. How much does an outage cost you? Spend the extra few bucks!

Perfect operation for the intended usage.
This product works very well. Unfortunately, when using it in the "alternate" configuration where we ran our load directly from the battery, and used our power supply essentially as a battery charger, we would hear "motorboat" type sounds in received audio. We assume this is due to the charger operating in a "pulsing" way. By returning the connections to the primary configuration with the load, battery, and power supply on the assigned connections, this noise is eliminated. Therefore, I give this unit a "perfect" rating

I used the PG40s to setup a automatic backup power source for my amateur radio station. It works very well to keep my backup battery charged while under normal operations but when commercial power is lost the PG40s switches to the backup battery instantaneously. Not even a blink that I can see.

solid quality. auto change over from a line powered DC supply to battery operation on power loss. Charges the battery when line power is available. It just works.

Does what it says on the tin
I use this to charge 2 AGM batteries in parallel. The unit does get quite warm on initial charge, so you probably want a fan for that.Once in trickle charge mode it runs cool.Hand-over from AC to battery seems flawless and I could not trigger any glitches in my equipment during hand-over.Could be considered expensive for a couple of diodes, but the smart charger in this new version makes it worth the price.
