A perfect story
Not perfect as in perfect grammar (I found a lonely leftover "t"), but a Beautifully written story filled with love. This book taught me something new about the story of Christ's birth. How many times I've read that passage in the Bible or sung it or listened to someone else read it? Yet I had missed an important point about Christ's birth and Mary and Joseph. This wonderful story really lets you know, as much as we can if it hasn't happened to us, the fear that a foster child lives with on a daily basis. But it also opens the door to being a foster parent. Perhaps I should have said a GOOD foster parent. I think this will become like A Christmas Carol by Dickens. Something I will read every Christmas. I can't say I recommend this because that's simply not good enough. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a MUST read.

A Young girl longs for family of her own
I liked this book, told from Lexi's viewpoint. The book wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I did like that it wasn't. It was charming, honest and emotional. A great family story for the Christmas season and to be honest good for any season that isn't Christmas. You have to remember this is a story told from a twelve year old girl perspective but it was pretty good. There were several other interesting people in the book besides her foster family. The homeless man turned out to have different situation than I was expecting; nice twist. This book is probably for the younger audience.

Heartwarming story about family
Twelve-year-old Lexi has been in foster care ever since her abusive parents went to prison. Things have been rough, but now Lexi's got a good home with Angela and John, and a good friend in her elderly Amish neighbor Emma. Lexi's ornament project with Emma, as well as a neglected stray dog, are keeping her busy in the days prior to Christmas.Yet Tricia, the family's other foster daughter, has recently been reunited with her biological parents. Now Lexi is forced to consider that perhaps she might have to go back home, or that Angela and John won't want to keep her. The very thought makes Lexi feel sick. Whenever she thinks about her parents, she feels rage -- both at them and at God. Can Lexi find peace in her heart? While the simple story has likable characters and an enjoyable (if predictable) plot, the extremely sloppy editing job takes away from readers' focus. There are typos and errors in punctuation, even the wrong character name, on just about every other page.

Love Came Down at Christmas
Love Came Down at Christmas is a touching Christmas story that will cause tears and smiles. Being in foster care isnโt easy with so many obstacles to over come, but Godโs love is always there. Having worked with foster children, biological and foster parents I enjoyed reading this tale. I look forward to reading book 2 and 3 in the series.

Sweet Christmas Story
This is a sweet Christmas story that shows how sometimes we think we know what we need, but God knows what we really need and how to make it happen.I love that this is not your typical Amish story, but still showcases the Amish culture and faith from a different perspective. It does need a bit of editing, but the errors are not off-putting. Enjoy!

Good, light story, a little disjointed
Often Amish themed stories, it seems, have some fantastical, oddly described situations. I think some of it stems from the separation of cultures, but it is a strange world in reality for certain, with actual children in difficult, abusive situations, homeless people, people who need love and healing, and even people who look like they are from another time, as only a few examples in a vast world created by one God! I think it is a good, sweet story of Christian style love, though it does lack a little depth.
