MAD CATZ RAT 6+ Gaming Mouse Black

Love this mouse so much. Comfortable, smooth scrolling and easy to set profiles that are colour coded by the light on the mouse make it easy to use. The free software download lets you program your buttons and speeds how you like with a total of 4 profiles which are stored on the mouse. Adjustable sensitivity etc also has 4 programmable settings per profile.

Finds this a great asset to his gaming and blender

Has a really nice weight to it which makes it nice to move around. The only downside is the software which still looks like it was made by a design team and has very limited functionality. I have actually crashed out the mouse due to this (motion worked but no buttons registered). The few things you can do with the software is really nice quality of life stuff though like auto-clicker and basic macros which I fo use often.

I had a RAT 5 a few years ago, and I was devastated the day it stopped working as Mad Catz (then owned by Cyborg) - had ceased to exist as a company, and you couldn't get this mouse anywhere. Seeing this on Amazon, I decided to purchase the RAT 6+, which appears to be the same as the RAT 5 under the original Mad Catz brand - first impressions were pretty good, the quality of the mouse wasn't as good as the original RAT 5 (kinda annoying since this mouse is £30 more expensive than the original), however I was willing to accept that since the mouse overall is still comfortable as hell, and the rRAT 5 is to this day, one of my favorite mice. The positives mostly end there I'm afraid. If you are a Windows user, you'll probably find you will have issues with this due to driver conflicts. I have yet to find out what driver is conflicting, but what I can say is that on essentially every Windows machine I have, this mouse works for about 20 minutes before it seems to freeze - you will not be able to use it for about 5 seconds, then it will reconnect. I have tried using this mouse with my Mac and Linux systems, and it works flawlessly, no disconnects. Having discovered this, I decided to try and see if the Mad Catz tool could maybe flash new firmware onto the mouse - nope. The application from their site just plain and simply sucks. I did some research and I'm not the only one experiencing this issue on Windows - a lot of users on Reddit mention the fact that Mad Catz support is also quite disgusting - with this in mind, whilst I can, I've made the decision to return this to Amazon instead of having to deal with Mad Catz directly. I wanted this mouse to be great, and it is actually almost a great mouse, but there are obvious flaws that have not been addressed by Mad Catz, which for the price of this product is unacceptable. I will keep an eye on Mad Catz products and may try a new mouse in the future, but right now, I can't recommend that anyone picks this mouse up if you intend to use it on Windows.

Having a few mice to have use of from razer naga to a vertical mouse... preferred r.a.t 5 (cyborg) for over 8 years. Rat 5 WAS a gaming mouse to put a smile on your face (And not from just the design aspects of it). Teflon pads started to go on the base (Over cleaning it). Got the Rat 6+. The Rat 6 was near enough to the rat 5 as a replacement. HAPPY with it... Having read the reviews on this site (amazon) from other buyers and their negative reviews... I FIRST downloaded the software (INSTALLED IT before I got the mouse)... got an uninstalled *(obit) and removed other mouse driver software. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS... JUST AS GOOD AS THE RAT 5 WAS... LED off-putting BUT jcan ust turn off if wished!!!

Have used rat mice for years. Slick smooth movement and fully adjustable and programable.

Edit - Second mouse arrived, exact same issue. I am going to try a third as I really want this mouse to function, but for most people just avoid. Original review- Ordered to replace my 4 year old Rat 6 that was getting tired, build quality feels better than the original but it has to flaws which have made me return it. Firstly it intermittently freezes the cursor which makes it pretty much unusable for gaming, secondly the mouse wheel is incredible squeaky, I don't think it has been greased, this is very loud and very annoying. Yes I could take it apart and lube it up but considering that the mouse doesn't work properly anyway it's not worth it. I have ordered another one, hopefully this is not a fault with the whole line. Looking online the mouse freezing seems to be a common issue that does not have a clear solution.

Works well, lots of variable switch functions. Mine is used on multiple remote site locations and the "right click" portion has broken. This is purely due to incorrect storage for transits (in back pack) and the operation is still good. Would definitely recommend.
