The Disobedience of the Daughter of the Sun: A Mayan Tale of Ecstasy, Time, and Finding One's True Form

I loved this poignant tale of the fights between the gods and goddesses and all of their emotions and how humans can get brought into the drama. This is a beautiful story and a Mayan Creation Myth. I loved it, there were times when it was tender and intense, but not in our modern day way of violence. It is beautifully told and the message is one for the ages.

Mayan forklore at its best. profound and captivating

This book is literally a heart changer for me. Prechtel asks you to read it aloud, as a way of spreading the magic gifted in it. The Mayans prize language/speech as a marker of personal development, which always means also how well you are serving your community & culture. Well, I have been reading it aloud to my ARTS support group. And reading it alone to my own eager heart--as it explains, illuminates, re-potentizes so much that has been famished in me. I'll bet in you, too, especially if your own uniqueness has been eluding you. Not as a point of pride to hold yourself above the tribe, as Oscar Ichazo puts it, but as a knowledge of snowflake ecology.This man not only ha a gift, but has found it, nourished it, heeded its call and you will benefit from it, too. Reading him is like chocolate & water on a desert Island. Food from the gods.He calls to you so genuinely, they are not dry words on a page, but lively encounters in the domain of Spirit and poetry & inspiration--actualising, in-spir-ing (drawing breath in to you).Procure the book. Read it. Devour it. Chew it. Re-read it. BREATHE it. Then go bless your world. And pass the book along. This disobedience must be learnt and passed on.

Having been to Lago de Atitlan last year and worked in and out of Mayan villages with a non-profit I found this book to be particularly insightful. It opens up understandings about a culture that can one can only glean from storytelling. This is a beautifully written and fast read that immediately brings with it the potential for many take aways into our own lives.

Yet again my heart is opened in new ways from reading martins books, his words are magical pathways that lead you to experience the greater mystery of the universe, read and enjoy my fellow soul travelers

The poetry of the language alone is worth reading. Thank you Martín for revealing the layers of meaning in the story and helping us to perhaps get a glimpse of some of the deeper layers of our own existence.

Although some controversy surrounds this author and his authenticity, the message of this story, and the guide to examining deeper layers is beautiful. Well written and illustrated, the story provides each of us a sense of our own journey, as well as the challenges of others in the world, as well as the incredible way we are linked and not separate from the earth and her cycles.

Another gem amongst Martin Prechtel's works

How difficult it is to even start to describe the beauty of this tale and the multi-layered understanding of the wisdom held within! Reading this tale will awaken one's innate sense of beauty and spark the desire to read more of Martin Prechtel's work

Magnificent piece of mythic retelling...and the layered interpretation half of the book goes deep. Lovely example of how traditional myth IS and always has been multidimensional/holographic. Love it!
