Impressive
Replaced the 12 year old disposal that our home builder had installed (which I've learned was actually too small for our home and family size) with this and I'm very impressed - not only by its size but also by the ease of installation. Thankfully I'm my case, I basically had to twist the old one of and twist this one into place (and of course secure the plumbing and electrical). I purchased this based on reviews and reputation, so I'm hopeful to get many years of use. It seems very well made, and runs as quiet as the one I've replaced.

Good quality, we managed to install ourselves. Less expensive than Home Depotโs option.

Works well, few installation headaches
I was replacing a non-insinkerator 1/3 hp unit with this one, so I had to do every step as the sink flange was completely different. I ran into the following issues and offer the following advice to others: 1) The insinkerator snap ring can be really hard to get on when working alone with only a weight on the sink side to hold it down. I finally got it on by using thick painters tape to hold the fiber gasket and bottom mount while I fiddled with the snap ring. I still had to get out the snap ring pliers to do it alone, but if someone was there to hold it from top, I could have been more aggressive and might have been able to do it by hand. If you get aggressive with only a weight on top, you start messing up your plumbers putty job... 2) One of the steps on wiring says to put a cable clamp on (not included).. REALLY? this information should have been in the REQUIRED TOOLS listing. No one has a bag of metal cable clamps (strain relief) just laying around... I opted to use a rubber grommet instead that I happened to just have so at least the wires arent rubbing against sheet metal. Pretty sure that clamp only would have cost 10 cents to include for free... this should have been included, as should have a couple of wire nuts (which i already had) 3) I fiddled for more than hour trying to get this heavy thing twisted on... in the end, I had it on there right a few times but just wasn't confident it was on there correct. This is because it feels really loose when twisted on and you then need to reach above and twist the metal flange attachment more. I recommend watching the insinkerator video as the instructions aren't super clear on this... Anyhow.. I'm happy with the end result, just not super happy with the installation process. It could be improved.

Excellent disposal
This unit is replacing a 1/2hp InSinkErator that lasted well over 26 years. We decided to up the hp to the 3/4 hp model for durability. The included instructions with the 1/2 hp model said it would safely grind chicken bones & peach pits & those would help keep it clean & grinding well. In my experience this is truly correct. That 1/2 hp was a real beast & never failed. I am also short 3 little glass juice glasses tooโฆ it made quick work of those as wellโฆaccidentally of courseโฆ The 1/2 hp was running great until I clogged it up with bread dough accidentally. It never quit or stopped running but the clog prevented it From draining properly. Big mistake! I hope we have the same experience with this disposal.(minus the bread dough) The 3/4 hp is much quieter which is great. This was an easy exchange due to thoughtful design & took very little time or effort to replace. (If your dishwasher attaches directly to the disposal, do not forget to remove the knock-out plug. Ask me how I know!!!) This new 3/4 hp has been installed for just about a week & has performed excellent so far. I hope it lasts at least as well as the older 1/2 hp model.

It's very powerful and works
Awesome. My old one, finally gave up the ghost. It fit the hole because we had one. It's great value for what it does. And surprisingly quiet for an insinkerator. Our old ones sounded like a jet engine Landing, this one is less noisy. It went in easy and so far has given me very few if none problems. I wish I could buy another one just because it's so awesome

Awesome
This thing will chop through anything! I was uneasy about the price, and was lucky to get it on sale. For a disposal as powerful as this, it's surprisingly quiet. 100% recommend.

Hard to install, old model
The product arrived faulty, the heat fuse keeps tripping after 5 seconds of working, the product is old, I reccomend buying a newer model Also, note that it does not arrive with air switch and not even a power cord.

Easy to install
Arrived when stated. Easy to install. Took 2 hours to install as I also had to hard wire it in. Also, make sure to use the correct putty if installing into a granite composite sink. I don't believe it states that on the instructions. Regular plumbers putty will eventually stain your sink because of the oil within. Just as quiet as my old Maytag was. Rate at about 8 out of 10 for quietness. Price was right & seems to do the job.

Recommended Food Waste Disposer
Bought this unit to replace a 25 year old Insinkerator Badger 5 which finally died. The 1/2 HP motor was still functional, but the inside was corroded. It was relatively simple to remove the old unit and replace it with the Badger 5XP as the footprint is almost the same. The Badger 5XP is considerably heavier than the old unit, probably because it has a heavier duty 3/4 HP motor vs. a 1/2 HP on the Badger 5. The steel inside the grinding chamber appears to be galvanized which hopefully will provide longer corrosion-resistance. The discharge tube connection to the tailpipe on the Badger 5XP is a little different than the Badger 5, but it works fine and there is no leaks. The more powerful 3/4 HP motor should provide an added level of assurance that the unit will grind particles more efficiently.
