What is everyone talking about?
In my opinion this is a great product. I was reading reviews before before ordering and was somewhat disheartened by the negative reviews it had been given. however i was raised to never judge a book by its cover so i went ahead and ordered it. This is the easiest watch to set in the world if you read the instructions. simply push mode once for stopwatch, twice for time set and three times for alarm set... it has four buttons, one of which is a light so essentially three buttons. i am no smarter than your average person but find it difficult to believe people struggled to set it. hourly chimes are easier enough to turn off IF YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! My only dissatisfaction with this product is its wrist strap, overall a poor design but it does the job. i am a restless sleeper, always moving while i sleep and the strap sometimes loosens off over night but it does a great job waking me up. All in all a great, highly recommended product, we worth the money and does the job, just don't think you are clever enough to operate without reading the instructions first. always read the instructions. it is so easy to do once you have read them i was able to set it whilst explaining Inception to someone and half watching The dark night rises... i am (and have) suggested that all my co workers get this product, no more late mornings for me!!!

How I Almost Got Fired: Because This is Junk
I hate this product. Here's why: an alarm only does me good when it goes off. Guess what, it didn't. It works 90% of the time, sure, but I personally need an alarm that will wake me up whenever I need it too. Instead, this terrible device caused me to be late today for work. I'm in a huge amount of trouble, and I'm very upset. So upset, in fact, I decided to write this review in the hopes that I can warn anyone reading this of the lesson I should have learned a long time ago: don't trust your job to an alarm that costs less than twenty bucks. That's the general statement. Honestly, you should immediately stop reading and look elsewhere, but here's my full thoughts on the product. When the "Shake-N-Wake" arrived I was very happy with the comfortable band, but I was surprised that the alarm was not attached to it, but rather the lip of the alarm slides into an elastic loop. It was sturdy, but I realized there was a risk the alarm could slip out in the night. The alarm is very bulky, but not uncomfortable. The problem with bulky is that it can bump on anything if you move while you sleep (move at all). The set-up is very confusing, until you realize half the features don't work. What do I mean by that? Well, there's a blinking list of the days of the week on the top, but it DOES NOT set alarms by the day. The instructions even mention to ignore the feature as it doesn't do anything. It says that. I wish I still had the tiny instructions because I laughed for nearly an hour on how it told me too ignore a malfunctioning feature. Oddly enough it never slipped out! Instead, the entire lip piece simply bent off. I decided to screw the alarm directly into the band, but the plastic was so cheap the screws simply broke off with the plastic. I then placed it under my pillow and the vibration woke me up alright. The vibrating mode was the reason I got the Shake-N-Wake (imagine that,) and it worked when it went off. 10% of th time it WOULDN'T go off. Today, I returned to discover that the small switch on the side that turns off the vibration and turns on the soft beep (like a watch alarm) had gone off. Now, the alarm is so quiet I normally don't hear it, but remember, I had the device under my pillow because it had destructed itself to the point of not functioning. All in all, it lasted barely 3 months and failed me about 5 times, today being the worst of it. As soon as I finish I will be looking for a better product to order, and when that arrives, I will smash this stupid device into oblivion. I apologize for my informal speech, but this piece of junk is going to burn in the fiery pits of Mordor by the time I'm though. Please run away from this page and block this item to save your job (unless you want to buy it for the ridiculous instructions or if you happen to need a cheap plastic you can peel away for your art projects.

Nice little product once you conquer the directions
I bought this timer for two purposes: #1 when cooking I often leave the kitchen while things are on the stove and once I get upstairs I easily forget and can burn things. To avoid this I would carry a wind-up kitchen timer in my pocket to remind me but it was bulky. #2 I sometimes want to take a quick nap but don't want to go through the bother of changing my alarm clock to wake me up in 45 minutes or so. I hoped this little timer might help me on these two points. My first encounter with it wasn't very pleasant. There are no instructions on how to use the wrist band - you just have to figure it out and it is not too intuitive. There are nicely printed instructions for the timer but they were not particularly helpful at first. I think it should start with telling you how to set the time but instead it starts with a stop watch function. I suppose that is okay if you only want to use it only for a stop watch, but the problem is that to set up most functions you need to be in the "Normal Time State" and there are no instructions on how to get there except to say that once you first put the battery in, you are in that state. Just touch any key and you don't know where you are. I got lost and put it down. A couple of hours later heard this terrible noise coming from my desk. I had apparently inadvertently set the alarm by pressing some button or another and the vibrator was rattling my desk! I couldn't immediately figure out how to stop it so I got frustrated and pulled out the battery. A few days later I approached it again and very carefully set the time, date, day and then set the alarm and tested it and it worked just fine. So I think I have conquered it. Voila! (PS: I am not a complete technology idiot as I am a semi-retired computer programmer - so I can imagine others struggling with it too.) Now that I have it working it appears that it will be just fine for the two functions I intended for it so I can recommend it - just be patient with the instructions!

Best purchase on Amazon!
I'm an Amazon Prime Member and purchase a lot of things. This by far has been my best purchase; because it changes how your entire day goes from the moment you wake up. I have had this alarm clock for about 2 months now. My Wife and I just had a baby recently and she sleeps beside our bed for the time being; the baby, not the wife. Before I got this Vibrating Alarm Clock I used my usual phone alarm clock to wake me up. I'm hard to wake up too. The phone would go off and wife would wake up, dogs would wake up, baby would obviously wake up and in a panic, I'm trying to shut off my phone in a dizzy haze. Sometimes hitting the snooze and repeating if it didn't happen to wake everyone up the first time, or the phone would just lock up and not go off and I would be late to work. Talk about rough mornings. Now with the Shake-n-Wake Alarm Clock I wear it on my wrist at night. I wake up very early in the morning to run before I go to work. It vibrates and wakes me up without fail every single time without startling me. I'm not in a panic to shut it off in fear of waking everyone up. I get in my run before work and the rest of the day is splendid, not to mention the wife, and baby get to sleep a few more hours. A few people have mentioned the hourly alarm annoyance flaw. Not a flaw, just an option. Maybe the flaw was it was left out of some of the instructions. I shut it off day one and it never comes back. Just pressing the "Time Set" and "Mode" button simultaneously toggles the hourly chime on and off. When the date display indicates "SU MO TU WE TH FR SA" after pressing these buttons simultaneously, the hourly chime is on. The date display will go blank after toggling the hourly chime off. Very easy, not worth even close to trashing this product over that. I've also heard people complain about the arm strap. I've not had any problems with mine and wearing it 5 days a week for 2 months now and does not look to be wearing out. I imagine if it does ever break I will quickly be at the fabric store fix it or make a new one. I love this thing and after my baby moves to her nursery, I'm sure I'll still be wearing it. Even if I'm alone in bed, I'll probably still use it, because even as hard as it is to wake me up with a loud alarm clock, the Shake-n-Wake wakes me up nice and easy. I recommend this product!

Works perfect at waking my wife next to me in bed, but it goes completely unnoticed by me...
I have mixed feelings about the Shake-N-Wake because I imagine a broad group of people could use this as an effective alarm clock and could ensure that they wake-up on time. Maybe, for instance, someone might have an important meeting that they absolutely cannot miss - the Shake-N-Wake would be a perfect supplement alarm and would give peace of mind. But, this is not how the Shake-N-Wake is primarily presented (albeit they do have the above notion mentioned in a list of possible uses for the Shake-N-Wake). Instead, it is supposed to be a silent alarm so as not to wake your partner and it gives you a "gentle but firm" vibration to wake you up. This is where the Shake-N-Wake fails to deliver. The Shake-N-Wake claims to be a silent device to wake you up and not to wake your partner. The vibration of this alarm is not silent; instead, it is very loud. The vibration was so loud that my wife would instantly wake up when it went off and I would remain asleep until she actually started to shake me. And the "gentle yet firm" vibration is a mere euphemism for the same vibration quality as that of a video game console's controller (e.g., PS2/3, Xbox/360, etc.). Or, for the unfamiliar, the vibration quality is like a cell-phone vibration if the internal weight were to be about twice the average size. So, the mixed feelings about the Shake-N-Wake: it will wake most people whether intended or not - therefore, it works; however, there are some people who have sleeping disorders such as Delayed Sleep-Phase Syndrome who will sleep for very long periods of time unless someone actually wakes them (I know, because I suffer from it). Alarm clocks can work, but they must be set to the highest volume and be able to run for at least an hour before automatic shut-off. This presents quite a problem because I cannot play Slayer (Death Metal; and what I used in the past when required to wake early in the morning) at six o'clock in the morning at full blast - one, my wife would kill me and two, we currently live in an apartment with noise restrictions (I'm not even a slayer fan, but they were the loudest I could think of). The Shake-N-Wake seemed like it might really offer sufficient shake to wake me - it did not, nor with a supplement alarm clock added. I had high hopes for the Shake-N-Wake, but for me, the Shake-N-Wake did the exact opposite of what it is intended to do. It is rather loud merely vibrating (there's a chime alarm selectable instead too) and this loud vibration is fairly weak. Even though it could not wake me, it still does not meet the claims that are made (silent, won't wake your partner), especially considering the target market of the Shake-N-Wake. In short: Pros- -It will likely wake you (unless you have an underlying sleep issue) -It could foreseeably work as a good secondary when waking on-time is a must Cons- -It is loud and will likely wake your partner -The "shake" is merely a weak vibration (yet produces significant noise...) -It will not wake the deep sleepers out there

Complicated, hourly charm a disaster; when it works it's good
I use this for traveling (without the wrist strap) so I don't wake anyone else up in the next hotel room and I find it more pleasant. I also clip it to the pocket in front of me on the plane so I don't have to dig and get my cell phone every time I want the time - the light feature is nice. Unfortunately, I can't use it at home because my husband wakes up to the sound of it more so than my alarm clock, go figure. It's not very loud. The HOURLY CHIME feature is a nightmare. Just like when the alarm is on and there is an icon in the top right corner, there should definitely be a big H or something to indicate it's set on hourly chime. Apparently, it is easy to press those two buttons (reset and mode) simultaneously by accident, because I'm not the only one who's talking about it. The biggest problem was that my son began using this alarm clock. He complained once about its going off a lot, so I turned off the hourly charm I thought. At some point, his teachers complained he was sleeping in class and in general just not energetic. A month later, when I was going to borrow it back for a trip (today), I noticed it was on. So it's very likely that my poor boy's been awakened every hour on the hour for the last month and simply didn't recall it and fell right back to sleep. This small little electronic device unbeknownst to us made us very concerned about our son with no solution in sight. Unacceptable! The setting of the clock is indeed not intuitive because in each mode, it does NOT say what it is. The stopwatch is the first choice of items to be set - why? Logically, it would be time, but time is the third choice after alarm. Also, toggling between 12 and 24-hour mode is an accidental endeavor. If anyone can clue me in as to how to set this, I'd appreciate it. I will still use this item myself, but given the ease at which people can set it on the horrific hourly chime and how complicated it is - I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. That said, I don't see an alternative product out there yet.

Disappointed
I am a hard of hearing individual and I purchased this product in lieu of another product I would've much preferred, the ShakeAwake Alarm Clock. I had previously owned 3 of those devices over the period of 10 years, replacing them as they got old, but always living up to their name. However when the latest one passed away, I came onto Amazon, as I had to purchase the other 3, to discover that the product was no longer available in their store, and I could not even find a way to purchase it from their seemingly official site. So I discovered this product, the closest thing to what I actually wanted (a vibrating alarm to go under my pillow and wake me up each morning before work) 1) the device shakes momentarily EVERY hour on the hour. That could not be any more annoying to my girlfriend who spends many nights with me and is not hard of hearing. Also, WHY is that feature even there? 2) while my girlfriend was not around (she would wake me up when a audible alarm went off instead), I would use the alarm clock, however, there was no real snooze option (that I could find, which I also used a LOT on the ShakeAwake device), and the vibration was so unnoticeable under the pillow, that I ended up having to use the vibration from my iPhone as a secondary backup to wake me up in case this device didn't. 3) For a short while, the alarm simply wasn't going off. I couldn't figure out why for a few days until I noticed that in the middle of the night, or during one of my wake ups, the alarm's switch changed from vibrate to audio... the switch moved way too easily, and I could've been late to work multiple days if it wasn't for my backup alarm. 4) By this time, I completely shunned this device and I have been using my iPhone, a device unintended for this role for a hard of hearing person, which has performed this job far better than the alarm ever has. However, I'd prefer NOT to use my iPhone for this role and have a dedicated device for waking me up. 5) Sure, there's an option to wear it on your wrist, but the last thing I need is something uncomfortable on my wrist as I try to sleep. Honestly, I'd prefer to return this device, however, it's not really on any fault of the product itself, it's not defected. It just isn't for me. Looking forward to the ShakeAwake device becoming available in the store again, or at the least finding another store that I can actually purchase it from.
