Stunning, poetic journey through myth and space
This is a stunningly and richly illustrated book, but the highlight for me is the wonderful language. Each of the planets speaks about itself and its relationship to classical gods, using rich vocabulary and interesting, quite complex techniques that remind me of the Anglo-Saxon riddles. A child or adult who is already familiar with either the planets or classical myth will get the most out of this.It is challenging and interesting enough to intrigue adults, but the main audience is probably teenage children who have an interest in language and literature. I love it and my five-year-old loves to have it read to him even though a lot of the vocab is unfamiliar to him.

Hot Stuff!
A wonderful way to explain the solar system & much more. I purchased this book for my grandson to accompany a globe thathad the earth during daytime & @ night projected the constlations on his bedroom ceiling. He is absolutly enthralled with the wonders of the planets & the stories that go with them. I highly recomend this book, I was interested as much as he, if not more.

Teaching constellations and planets
I bought this book for my Latin I students, and I love it. It is modern and has the current symbols on the skycharts for the planets imbedded into the artwork. It is clever, colorful, and accurate. I highly recommend this book for small children learning about the planets to special education students to general education students up to grade 9.

Beautiful and informational
I love the way this book combined scientific information with mythology. My daughter is only 5 and even she got alot out of it. The illistration is beautiful and helps keep the attention of smaller children. I would recommend this book for children of almost any age, we all just loved it!

This book has beautiful illustrations, but was a little disappointed with the text. It was light on both astronomy facts and mythological facts. It's written in a whimsical style that perhaps would be enjoyable to the youngest children but was a bit light for my 6 year old.
