Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98 (Dover Miniature Scores: Orchestral)

Brahms, never quite Beethoven. There is a block effect in his writing and sometimes a lack of melodic development. The problem is that, having listened to this live at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, there is a quite pronounced triangle part in the live performance (done for real effect and brings the use of the triangle to an unexpected and important prominence, but in the recording quite failed to register, although written into the score.Other than this, very well done and would normally rate above four but not quite five, because of the lack of clarity for the poor old neglected triangle.

ドーヴァ社のミニチュアスコア初めて買いました。製本も紙質もしっかりして手荒く扱っても大丈夫だろうし確かに安いのは魅力。しかし普通のミニチュアより多少サイズが大きいのでその分見易いのかと思ったらだまされました。がっかりでした。まわりの余白が多くて肝心の音符は小さくて見にくいし、確かにページ数は減っているものの詰め込んで小さく印刷している部分と楽器が増えていて大きく印刷されている部分の差が激しくあまり美しくない譜割りです。やはりスコアの見やすさではオイレンブルク社のがいいと思います。安かろう悪かろうでした。観賞用に眺めるだけならいいですがスタディスコアとしては薦めません。
