The game that Aunt B is describing is not Pacific Victory by Columbia games but instead Victory in the Pacific by Avalon Hill.that being said Pacific Victory is a great beer and pretzels simulation of the Pacific War with the much compacted rule set that is used in similar to Victory blocks of war and this is a great game.

Never actually played it.
Was hoping the instruction manual would have more Pacific War strategy info in it.

Very Disappointd!!!
Not even close to the old Avalon Hill Victory in the Pacific. Much more complicated and unrealistic. Unless you have hours and hours upon hours to waste, don't bother this this game.

Pacific Victory - Memories
I used to have this game when I was a kid and I recall it being a lot of fun.If you're a WW2 buff at all and enjoy board games then this one is a must.I no longer own the game (and the listed price here is a bit steep for me at the moment or else I'd buy it ASAP) but I recall there being all kinda of small cardboard squares to represent individual units of the Japanese and Allied forces. All the naval ships and ship types are represented with battleships, destroyers and aircraft carriers in play. There are air units as well.So you wind up with a LOT of little pieces to keep track of but the board based war simulation is pretty accurate.I'm waiting for the price to come down on this one but would otherwise highly recommend it to any other board/history geeks out there ; )
