Slim and Sharp!
This is the most expensive small folder that I own, but it's worth every penny. appearance and build quality are outstanding. Reflections off the blade surfaces add visual interest. You may have to work at it a bit but you can open it one-handed thanks to the large opening in the blade. It is amazingly sharp out of the box (passes the paper test) and weighs in at right around 2 ounces. Excellent value for the money and U.S. made, except for the pocket clip, which I have chosen to remove.

Quality Pocket Knife
PROS: + Made in USA + Nice size for the every day minor needs + Blade is very sharp upon delivery + Feels solid in the hand + Clip is nice that it allows a raised contact area to pull out of pocket + Warranty seems like they back their products with confidence CONS: - Machining of the handle edges could be a little smoother. The edges that house the blade and divots along the handle are rough. Perhaps this is for better grip? I think they could be smoother and still provide positive grip - I ordered the grey but the color is more silver/light grey. Pictures on line show more contrast between handle and blade. I thought it was a darker grey which I was hoping for CONCLUSION: I’ll keep the knife and update later if I have any issues. I’m not an expert to which blade steels are better or worse but I feel confident this can handle things for my simple chores. I hope to have this little beauty for many years. Was my review helpful? Thank you.

Great Knife
Good size, sharp, durable. The pocket clip is reversable. I used a small eye glass tool for the screw. I got an orange knife because my black ones seem to disappear frequently.

One of the best, if not the best, sub-$50 folders - upgraded to 4 stars after a month
I know everything less than 5 stars is viewed as being critical, but this is an exceptionally good knife at this price point that will stand up to everyday abuse and finds the right balance of toughness and hardness and ease of sharpening relative to higher priced super steels that are available. Coming from Kershaw assisted opening knives- last being a Kershaw Leek- I give this knife high stars for fit and finish. I like the aesthetic which is derivative of Spyderco. Kershaw quality is a bit dodgy relative to long term wear and small things like whether the blade is centered in the handle when closed can vary from one to the next. This blade is centered perfectly and there are no visible defects in frame finish. The hollow ground blade arrived very sharp with a coarse, toothy grind. I ran 30 or so strokes on a leather strop loaded with grinding polish which brought it to a hair popping edge that is holding up well to boxes, slicing strawberries, some rope and the occasional Amazon blister pack. Based on that effort, I would say the 420HC steel- for which Buck heat treat is highly regarded- is noticeably harder steel than the 8CR13MOV which Kershaw uses. I've done a lot of bedtime reading on steel metallurgy. Extremely hard steels like S30V, CPM154, M390 or even VG10 are higher in carbides making for long lasting edges and great field knives. I was a 420HC skeptic but after owning this knife I find it better at edge holding than 8CR20mov used by Kershaw and more than adequate for a 30 minute cardboard cutting session. In terms of blade profile, the Kershaw Leek has an extremely fine tip that - lets say hypothetically and I'm not suggesting this is what I did to break it- would not be suitable for prying the field point on a misfired arrow out of section of 2x4 lumber. But I personally would like to know my $40 sub 3" pocket carry could survive that sort of effort. The tip on this is significantly beefier without trading off that essential quality of 'pointiness' and the blade profile gives you a lot of usable edge for a sub 3" folder that disappears in your pocket. Negatives: the action is stiff, and while on the plus side it locks out to open as a rigid blade with zero lateral flex, but working the blade lock several hundred times and hitting it with lithium grease has not changed that. I find it to be a two handed effort, as is using the lock release on the back of the blade to close which puts my fingers right in harms way. There is a safe way to close it, but not a safe AND fast way. Kershaw's frame release on the inside of the blade is quicker and safer in my opinion. Bottom line: It's a 4 star knife that could be 5 stars if it was a liner lock and opened one handed. 420HC by Buck seems to be very good at edge holding with a refreshingly shiny (not mirror) finish not often found these days when stone washed and blackout are the rage. Lower carbides mean it's a better 'prying' knife, plus highly corrosion resistant to boot.

Nice knife for a pretty good price
I have seen some reviews with fit and finish issues, not to discount those, but the one I got is built very well. No sharp edges (except for the blade of course), no blade play or lock rock, and a very useable pocket clip. The orange is a nicer color in person that the pics lead you to believe. The action isn’t as smooth as some of my knives but it’s perfectly openable with one hand and not gritty at all and it will probably smooth up some with time. It lock up with authority too. Blade came very sharp and my errantly placed finger can attest to this. Bottom line is I like it

Quality Buck Product Made in the USA for a reasonable price.
Quality Buck Product Made in the USA for a reasonable price. This knife is just the right size and weight for every day carry, very slim. The pocket clip is sturdy & perfectly positioned. Easily opens with one hand and locks securely when opened. The blade itself is very sharp and Bucks USA blades typically hold a nice edge and are resharpened pretty easily (i use a basic "V" type sharpener). The Blade is wider than a normal knife this size and the thumb hole is not a typical shape, but both of these design features make this knife look & feel a little more "unique" while also giving the blade a more substantial feeling than a pocket knife this size would normally have. I like it & would recommend it.
