Creative, Dark and Character-Driven
I was first drawn by it's abstract and painted art style, and once I bought it, I stayed for the world. How some of the abilities work is confusing at first, but so is riding a bike, and all of its rules and game mechanics connect and lean on each other, so i wouldn't want any of it to be different. Character creation is fun, the reliance on skills is wonderful, and the simplicity of monsters and NPCs having static numbers instead of rolling really speeds up gameplay on the DM's side to keep the whole group engaged. The game itself is geared for everyone to work as a group having fun and experiencing dark-toned adventures, the DM included. But equally wonderful, if not more, is the world. You can use the game rules to play it in almost any kind of homebrew setting or era you'd like, but I would not want to play Symbaroum in any other world than the one its grounded in because its so engrossing. It has history, lore, diverse worldviews and gripping characters that together creates a blackwater backdrop for your characters and where they fit in this story. It forgoes stereotypes of fantasy elements and instead looks at it more realistically. There's reason the fictional things in that world exist, and their impact is apparent in the environment, culture and daily life of the denizens there. It has what could be coined as "Internal Realism", meaning nothing exists in the world "just because". Anything that's left as unknown is given to the GM in a way that feeds them inspiration to fill what was intentionally omitted. If this was just a book series, I would read it.

Amazing Setting
The setting of this book is fantastic - creepy, dark and fascinating. The forest begs to be explored - if you dare. The rules are pretty simple. There is a great balance of variety and simplicity for character options. The artwork alone makes these books worth the purchase.Reading through the rulebook, my mind is exploding with ideas for characters, adventures, interesting NPC’s. It really sparks the imagination.

Great Mechanics, Great Setting, Great Art
Easily one of the top RPG's out there right now. Mechanically, it is brilliant. It is a "player facing" game, which means that players make all the rolls -- when they attack, they must roll equal to or under their Accurate attribute. When the enemy attacks, instead of the GM rolling, the player must roll equal to or under their Defense stat (which can be modified by an enemy's skill).Setting and tone wise, it remains brilliant. Dark, moody art enhances a melancholic setting that the Swedes seem to have perfected. It is a setting that gets deeper and deeper with every supplement, and you find that thjngs presented in this book are not always quite what they seem -- but there are enough hints here that you can create your own intrigues even if you do not buy those other books (but seriously, buynthose other books too).Perhaps the strongest recommendation I can give is that of the people I have introduced it to. I have taken about a dozen people through their first adventures in Ambria and Davokar, and every single one of them has loved it. Most lf them bought this book, and about half of them run their own campaigns now. Even as just a book to enjoy as a (geeky) coffee table book, Symbaroum is worth a buy.

but I love the setting and the overall art
I have not played it yet, but I love the setting and the overall art. Currently we are playing DragonAge which is fantastic as well check that out as well. Back to Symbaroum, just at first look the Art is beautifully drawn, but the overall attention to detail helps with immersing yourself in the world. It takes a completely different approach from the norm of standard races in Table Tops, which was great in my book. I could see others not necessarily digging it cause there is only 3? Or 4? Playable races total, but don't let that deter you. It helps keep it's style to the story(Which is great and enjoying to read). I am very eager to play it, the mechanics are a little different but I like them. I'm all for learning new systems, I would give this game a shot. I'm excited to try it and love it's vibe. 10/10 in my book. No pun intended.

Great Game Great Art!
I bought this title based on the artwork alone. Very well done! I was looking for something different from D20 D&D even though I really love that game. The system itself is very streamlined and easy to understand. The book is the usual beautiful hardcover that I’ve come to expect from Modiphius. I will definitely buy some of the sourcebooks when I get a chance.

Really dig the atmosphere.
The mechanics are a bit different than maybe most are use to. But, the game world, the character/class builds, the creatures, the ever looming threat or temptation of corruption and the fact that ALL dice rolls are made by the PC's and NOT the GM, make this one a must try. If not out right buy. I have only been able to get my hands on the Core Rule book and the Copper Crown adventure so far. Still on the hunt for GM screen and a few other adventures + anything else I can get IN English. The art is awsome. check Youtube for vids and music written for it. Some in english, some Sweedish. DriveThruRpg has pdf's and reviews. I like the physical books. My recomendations....if you can get it... Get it!

Awesome!
Beautiful game overall, very Dark & Grim. Simple mechanics, with the players making all rolls, so the GM can concentrate on storytelling. Artwork is fantastic!
