Shimano Sora RD-R3000 Sora Rear Derailleur, 9-Speed - SS

Functions exactly as expected with my Sora shifters.

What can I say? It's a Shimano, really quality stuff. Easy to replace the short cage.

Arrived today shipped in a paper envelope with no padding. Not even bubble wrap. Seems to have survived, but I'm pretty disappointed in that effort. Other than that, it looks to be as advertised.

Price on Amazon is a bit higher than list price but I wanted the 2 day shipping. Got the SS version (small cage, suitable for gears 29T and under) from 365 cycles and the item arrived in mint condition. I wanted to replace an old Huret derailleur on my Raleigh Grand Prix (10 speed steel road bike from the 1970s made in England). Also got some new shimano compatible indexed downtube shifters from sun race plus a KMC chain and installed them all together. Had to watch some youtube videos on how to use a chain tool and whatnot but it wasn't hard. Maybe I just have low expectations but this bike shifts very smoothly + quietly now and I cannot be happier.

Great value buy. Light weight, smoother shifting. This replaced a 10yo Tiagra and did a marvelous job. East install and adjustment. Make sure to get new cables to ensure it works smoothly.

This is a great derailleur for 11-34 cassettes. It's probably the best bang for the buck for this cassette configuration. Claris is also good but the Sora probably has a little bit crisper shifts.
