Cute book
I bought this to help with hectic dinner time at my house with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Some good ideas in there and would buy again. I don't find that my 3 year old can be left alone to complete some of the tasks as this author suggests, but we do them together and she enjoys. I like how it lays out what you need to do before involving the child, calls out what skills you are developing in each recipe, and offers creative ways to explain to your children what you'd like them to do. Would buy again.

Incredible resource for parents of toddlers
I took a chance and ordered this book with no ratings for my 2 1/2 yr old because he is loving helping in the kitchen. I expected a few good recipes but I did not expect the level of amazing detailed information included about early childhood development and teaching children to cook early! This is an absolute must have. It is extremely British and some of the recipes are definitely pick and choose (lots of fish in interesting ways)... but the basic info in this book is incredible and the recipes are just an added bonus.

My toddler loves this book
My grandson loves to cook with me, his mom, and his other grandmother, and this wonderful book gives us lots of great recipes. It never occured to me to let my own kids stick their hands into dough to enjoy the tactile experience of baking, but now I follow Woolmer's tips. Even a grandma can learn new tricks!

Great choice!
The recipes are simple and easy to do. I actually liked this book even more for the advice on how to make cooking fun w a toddler - I could have avoided a lot of stress had I read this advice before my first several attempts at cooking w a 2 yr old!

Not child or parent friendly!
Big disappointment! Most of the recipes are not for children. Way too much writing and packed onto each page. Few photos! Forget that the kids can’t read it - I had no desire to read through all that blah blah!I sent this to my grandchildren based on the good review and only saw it a few months later. Damn!

Lying somewhere unused
I got this recipe book because of the great reviews but its not good at all. There are some recipes with sardines and curry, guess this is not for average kids. Theres not recipe worth trying, this book is lying in a shelf unused.

Best Toddler Cookbook
I've raised three daughters, all now excellent, adventurous cooks, and one is raising her own daughter now. This is absolutely the best children's cookbook I've ever read. The author tells you what skills the child will be using, and gives fantastic suggestions to make it accessible to even one year olds. The recipes are fun, and the fact that the child can do so much of it "all by themselves" is huge. There's guidance on what you need to do for them, and even an allergy table in the back. The author is British, so you may have to look up an ingredient or two to get the American name, but she gives all measurements in American too. Best thing I have bought all year.

Love it!
This little cookbook is adorable. Cute simple recipes for toddlers, and some recipes I’ve never heard of for adults/kids.

A great book that teaches the supervising adult how to empower the child to 'do it by themselves'
Now that my 20 month old is becoming more and more interested in 'helping' with every day tasks, I decided that I would love to start getting her involved in food preparation and baking etc. However, I am not confident in the kitchen at all, and have a tendency to become flustered and disorganised at the best of times, so I wondered how I would be able to make baking a fun and achievable experience for my daughter. The beauty of this book is that it contains recipes that allow the children, however young they may be, to take control in the kitchen and do it for themselves with minimum interference or help from the supervising adult. The key to success with these recipes is that the book explains and guides the parent/carer very easily in how to identify the types of recipe your own child might be best suited to (dependent on their age, ability, and particular interests/play styles/skills). It also contains very useful tips on the 'parent prep' that should be done beforehand (eg weighing and chopping), so that the child can just get on with doing the cooking without any delay or interruption to their fun. We started with the blueberry yoghurt muffins, and I was sceptical about whether my daughter would be able to make these 'by herself'. But to my amazement, all she needed was verbal instruction from me, and lots of encouragement, and she did it! The pride and sense of achievement for both of us was fantastic. I cannot recommend this book enough for people who want to encourage their children in the kitchen but aren't sure where to start.Other plus points worth noting: Allergies are taken into consideration for each recipe, and alternative ingredients are suggested where possible. There is no raw egg or raw meat used in any of the recipes, meaning that it's safe for inquisitive children to taste as they cook. Recipes are separated into breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner etc so that you can cook a variety of different dishes at different times of the day, and all recipes are catergorised by skill level to help you indentify a starting point for beginners/younger children.

Best toddler cook book.
Absolutely fantastic. My 2 year old daughter has been interested in helping in the kitchen since what feel like forever so I've tried to find ways to involve her whenever I can buy at times it can be difficult with raw ingredients, hot dishes and sharp knives. This book has recipes which, once I had the right sized spoon measured, she can actually cook by herself. Not only has she made biscuits, cakes and overnight oats, she just made herself her own tea! A very basic baked eggs Benedict. She loves it, I love it and we get some perfect time together having fun.

Easy to follow!
I've been wanting to cook/bake with my 22 month old since he was born. I came across this book and I'm so glad I did. We baked the lemon yoghurt cake today, and my son thoroughly enjoyed dumping stuff into the bowl and mixing it all. It tasted surprisingly delicious as well! The book is easy to read and follow, and it even includes a section on what to prepare beforehand. I love this book and highly recommend it!

Fantastic kids cook book with lunch/meals not just cakes!
Fantastic cook book to do with kids & not just the usual cakes & biscuits! My little boy really enjoyed making the samosas & tortilla pizza. He’s more likely to eat something new if he’s helped make it
