Wonderful shoes
My dad is 79 yo and has had two strokes. He has difficulty using his left hand along and issues with flexibility. He could no longer tie his shoes. Plus he was having foot and toe pain. I was concerned over his slip and fall potential. After searching high and low through all the Velcro fasten tennis shoes I found these. They look like tennis shoes rather than the thick-soled shoes typically found with Velcro fasteners designed for older folks. Combined with their look, their anti-slip soles, and being designed to be supportive I gave them a shot. My dad hasn’t worn anything else since the day he got them. He LOVES them...he says they’re comfortable, feel good, aren’t heavy, and are easy to put on. The anti-slip sole seems to be true to its claim. His feet aren’t hurting anymore either. These shoes are a blessing for my dad and we will continue to buy these for him. Oh, they are holding up very well, too. Highly, highly recommend.

So comfortable!
Amazon says these are a new product, so they must be an updated version of what I've had before. Anyway, this is my third pair of Avia "Avi-Union" shoes with the velcro straps, though apparently the first of this edition of them. The new ones are just as comfortable as the previous - maybe even better? Obviously, I love these shoes, since I'm back for more. They fit great (on me, at least), they are amazing comfortable and durable. I wear them for everything, and they stand up to it all. The older ones (one pair black, one pair white) have been worn hard for years, and are being retired to yard work shoes - and still surviving. The only problem (why they get 4 stars instead of 5) is the velcro itself. The transition between the two parts of the velcro is right at the loop where the strap is pulled tight (then down to fasten). The transition is a natural weak point, and that loop is a natural stress point; so the velcro is coming off of the strap a bit. Not so much as to eliminate the function, but it is mostly an annoyance. Obviously, I came back to buy them again, so it's not a huge problem.

A Cheap Treat For Your Feet
I'm getting up there in years so I love shoes with Velcro instead of laces. Makes the arthritis in my hands a lot less hassle. These are good casual shoes, nothing fancy and certainly not going to be mistaken for Florsheims or such but they do the job and are *very* comfortable. Toe box could be a skosh wider as I have large feet but on the whole these arte serviceable and work well.I volunteer at the local aquarium and am on my feet for hours at a time and these do not get uncomfortable. Traction is good on wet concrete but I've not given them a real workout on a rainy day but where I live that should not take long to occur.Support for the foot is good and I don't find any tendency for the shoe to "overrotate" or turn your ankles on softer ground. For the price and the use I put them to, they are just dandy. Good business casual but you;d not wear themw ith a fine suit for a night at the Symphony.

Better fit than expected
When I first put the shoes on, I thought to myself, "oh crap, these are too small". However, after stepping out and walking a few steps, mind you A FEW STEPS, the fit was perfect though a little bit tight. After a week of wearing, these shoes are comfortable and sturdy. The velcro straps are sturdy and well made, don't slip or come undone. I'm very, very pleased with this shoe selection!!!

I am pretty happy with these
The wide width is pretty wide. It is the widest wide shoe I have ever worn. Next time I might try the regular wide, in case these generally run wide. The length seems OK. They loosen up a little after the first wearing. The velco is ample and the shoes seem well made. This is February 2019 and if my opinion changes, I will revise my review.

The best velcro strap shoe for the money
I wear a velcro strap shoe like most people would wear a slipper. Mostly indoors. These were the cheapest I could find on Amazon. Four around the house they are great. They don't have the support to go out for a long walk or jogging. They appear to be cut a little small. I think I would have been better off ordering a half size larger than my normal size. My left toe hits the tip of the shoe. They are also tight in the front half, if you wear thick athletic socks. For my purpose they get the job done.

Wide in the arch area too.
I bought the 8.5 Wide white one. This shoes is excellent for me because I have wide feet with high bridge. My foot ball part is 11cm wide and in the middle is 9.5cm wide. My bridge is like 7cm high. I'm from South China and a lot of us normally have wide feet and only sandals fit us comfortably.I recently bought a pair of Propet wide shoes and they were wide but only on the toes part and not on the arch area, so they didn't feel overall comfortable. This Avias however are wide on the toes and on the arch area too.According to the charts I have 8 size foot but I bought a 8.5 and they fit perfectly because you have to consider the space the socks will occupy and also when you step on the floor your foot will "spread" a little wider and longer so you also have to consider that extra space too.The only thing I don't like that much is the memory foam inner sole because it flattens easily, it does not have spring force enough to support 180 pounds guy like me. I had to put another sole, but I don't mind because it's so hard for me to find shoes that fit so I can tolerate this little inconvenience.I hope my information helps another person like me.

Meh... You buy one made in China pair of shoes, you bought them all.
These seem like their pretty quality shoes out of the box, I've and millions of others have had pairs like these before and the build and material quality is all the same pretty much across the board, even the high dollar Reeboks and Skechers are "meh" in quality. For one their all made in China or some other foreign sweat shop so I wouldn't pay more than fifty bucks for any of these kinds of shoes. You should look at these made in China Avia's as a disposable work shoe, once you break them in, the cheap glue and pleather will start to break down on you within six to nine months, so if you get a pair of these you might want to get a back up pair, especially if you use these for work like I do.

Perfect for someone with mobility challenges
I got these for a friend in assisted living. He (and the nurses) had a lot of problems with his shoelaces and how often they were untied. He (and the nurses) looooooove these new shoes.

Made very small
I always purchase 10.5 wide for this style. With some styles I have to get 11.5 wide. For some reason beyond my understanding, not all makers follow the same standard. And most shoes using this design, are not made properly, as if the makers, never looked at a foot before. And instead follow some outdated old pattern and repeat, the same forever'Our toes get shorter on the outside, this is not a signal to curb the entire shoe inwards, tapper length yes, but not half the foot curbing inwards jamming the small toes. it's a small curve, but your feet notice it.Yes our feet get wider, but straight forward.Since the flaw is pretty much universal for this style, I'm complaining for nothing.Since I don't think any manufacture, will ever look at a real foot. The shoes seem to be good quality, and as advertised. The fit is small.I have worn Air Monarch brand for decades, they are the most comfortable shoes, but the price is now crazy. So I'm trying these instead.I purchased 10.5 Wide, because they said the fit was true. the Wide is to make up for the universal design flaw mentioned above. (The abnormal curving foot) Yes same flaw is also in the Air Monarch.I should have gotten the 11" Wide or 11".5 wide since these are a full inch shorter then any shoes I own of 10.5 Wide.Product is otherwise satisfactory and as expected.I sure they will stretch and fit better after a while.I hope since I purchased 2 pairs, I rotate them daily to avoid smelly shoes. One more thing, the tongue is not attached to straps and it slides down and inward. This is very annoying, to solve the problem, I used Velcro tape to attach the tongue to the back of the top strap. This seems to work ok, but it is a flaw that should have been detected, and fixed before mass production.Go figure. That's my opinion.Sorry about the venting.UpdateI returned the 10.5 and got 11.5.Better but still small compared the to others of same style.See photo, 10.5, 11.5 and old 10.5.The old pair are 10.5, the 11.5 are still smaller. So add at least one size when ordering.

Buen Producto!!!

Great Shoes.
Great Shoes. Comfortable I didint find any thing diging into my ankle. There just a good pair of shoes without going to deep in the pocket. I like the velcro its less time consuming than tieing.
