Inspired by Endangered Species: Animals and Plants in Fabric Perspectives Hardcover – January 28, 2020

If you love nature, love fabric, love quilts, love conservation, then this book is for you! Thoroughly engaging book full of quilts depicting endangered animals, birds, plants, flowers, trees, fish. You name it. Hard to put down after browsing thru it! Quilting methods, styles, and colors are as diverse as the items they depict! Some are traditional, some more abstract. I love wildlife and I love fabric art. Perfect combination and as always you can't beat a Schiffer book no matter what subject!! The quilts were part of an exhibit at the world-renowned Houston International Quilt Festival last year. Each page shows a quilt depicting a particular subject (animal, bird, etc) and the text explains about the animal and why it is endangered. Info about the quilts (fabrics, techniques used) is contained in several pages at the end of the book. Perfect set-up. Get this book!!!!

I bought the book to put back in my mind the memories what I saw at the exhibition of the real quilts at the Library of Congress. Although the photos are excellent, as usual they do not measure the real items. And to remember the images that I have saved in my mind, I just have to open the book and the 2 dimension photos changed to the 3 dimensions that I saw them then and they also brought back the feelings that I had when viewing them.

Absolutely gorgeous book with spectacular works of art on each page.
