LeapFrog LeapReader Book Learn to Write Letters with Mr. Pencil

Had for so long....Truly helpful on my baby's reading journey.

I ordered this to help my son (4 years old) prepare for kindergarten since he did not go to preschool. The LeapReader books have helped make learning fun for him and this book in particular has changed the concept of learning how to write into a fun game. Ive tried different methods to get him to learn how to write and this seems to be the easiest approach since it teaches him the different types of strokes and then teaches the letters that coincide with that particular stroke. It even teaches the letter sounds which is also good. The only downside is that i wish there were more practice sheets included so i could get my 3 year old involved too.

My son was a little delayed when it came to speech and learning and this book helped us reinforce and practice at home what he was learning at school! I encourage so many other parents to purchase it! It was user friendly and actually survived two rough and tumble boys using it !

It's a good book and great for practice but it you aren't right on the dot it will keep telling you to start over

Extremely disappointed in the limitations of Tag. The LeapReader books are fine, I am not sure what educational value they provide but it did keep a pre-K'er busy. However, the amount of work needed to get the tag to download new titles and work correctly with the associated book was too tediuous. I had to return this as despite multiple resets of the tag and downloading and reloading it would malfunction with a different book every time. The tag itself has a severe memory limitation of 30mb (RAM memory is CHEAP so there is no reason to have a 500MB on it) so that one cannot load all the titles as the memory will soon be exhausted. Now the parent has to sift through and decide which titles will need to be removed to make room for new titles. And when the child decides to pick up an older title in their playroom and find that the tag won't work anymore then one is on the hook again to go back and add that title back in and remove another title. It has proved to be a needless complication and not user friendly system....I guess no one buy and play was not a design philosophy... This could have been implemented with much greater simplicity....Very poor implementation. Further, the support site FAQ page came up blank!

My 5 year old is learning to write and wants to write on everything. If I give him a pen, everything will have ink on it in his immediate vicinity. We purchased him a leap reader and the problem was solved. He loves to read along with the books and to write on the special paper with his new learning toy. It writes on the paper but not on him... Or the couch... The leapreader combined with these workbooks are the perfect tool for a kindergartener with a hearty appetite for learning. I would recommend this system to anyone, my son has certainly enjoyed it. He forgets that he his learning and is excited to play with it.

Very nice book for kids to start with. my daughter really loved it and very easy to handle

My daughter has fun with the story and lessons but the reader "pencil" is much too large for four year old hands. She is learning to write and, while teaching strokes and shape is useful, teaching her awkward form is not. Also, if the lead were not so hard it could leave a good bold line without risk of tearing the paper, especially if re-writing the same letters.

We loved this product for helping our 4 year old to write her letters however I expected the paper would be re-usable so you need to order additional magic paper. Overall happy with the product.

It's a very nice book for writing practice. Specially for children u writes mirror image of letters. Need to purchase system. Buts worth in long term.

Love this item, I bought it for my son in JK to help him work on his writing and reading. I will definitely be buying another once he finishes this one! Arrived the very next day after I ordered.

Great product. I have bought this for my young 4 year old who started school in September. This is to provide additional support for him in his writing and pen control. So easy for him to follow. He's only used it a couple of times so far and he's doing really well, he understands the instruction of the leapreader pen when it tells him how to write a letter. Such a clever idea. I would really recommend this to anyone who has children that are starting to write or just need that bit of practice.

We bought this reading&writing set for our son, 4 years. He was very excited to use this book. It has nice and colorful pictures and it is easy and challenging at the same for the children.
