Excellent buy!
My 8 year old daughter is in love with ponies and horses and this year for our family vacation she chose to go to Chincoteague/Assateague Islands. We bought this book to supplement our trip and just be a fun activity in between all of the biking, swimming and pony riding. The photos are absolutely beautiful and their rich colors are stunning. Pictures aside, my favorite part is how informative it is. In a kid and adult friendly manner, it talks about Assateague Island, ponies and the history of Assateague and its ponies. It has a lot of really interesting facts and it is a great find whether you are sitting at home reading about it or actually visiting the Island. Warning: You will likely need to plan a vacation to the Island once your kid(s) get a hold of this book!!! I would recommend it to anyone interested in Assateague or ponies.

Good factual information on these Ponies of Assateague
A small book about the wonderful ponies of Assateague. i was enthralled as a horse-loving child, with all of Marguerite Henry's books. My favorite was MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE, illustrated by Wesley Dennis. I've always wanted to know more about these little horses, and this is a great short source for that information. Great for young readers.

Wonderful way to remember the ponies!
I just received the book today and it has brought back memories of a morning some years ago when my husband and I were returning home from a visit to Williamsburg. We hide behind the dunes, ate ourMcDonald sandwiches and watch the "Little Ponies" as they came running from the water to the dunesnear where we could watch the ponies. My great aunt and uncle had a book about the "Little Ponies" which I must have read several times andI had to beg my husband to take me to the spot where we could watch the ponies and that was one ofthe high points of the many years we spent moving from one Pennsylvania historic site another. I thinkwe were living on the grounds of the historic site, Washington Crossing on that trip.
