A Camus classic
I read the novel many years ago in a French class. Wanting to read it again in French, I was able to download it to my Kindle. The book is written in correct French, with no errors thus far! (I am French teacher.) I am very pleased to be able to get this on the Kindle!

A great novel unknown to me
By this time in my life, I should have read this book. But books have a tricky way of comming to your hands. This was an unexpected great read. I say this, because I started reading this book as an assignment for my french class. I was immediately taken over, by this story and its author. This book gets inside your mind and depending on your stage in life (I'm currently 41), it helps you ask yourself some deep questions about life and the choices you make. I don't want to spoil anything, but I highly recommend that you read this book.

Great of course!
I decided to reread l'Étranger as a precursor to reading the Prix Goncourt "Meursault; la contre enquête". It had been decades since I had read l'Étranger so I approached it from a very different perspective. Glad I did. I was able to appreciate "Meursault; la contre enquête" much better.I do wish I had been able to purchase l'enquête as an ebook. It was available as an ebook, but can't be purchased in this country. There's not a rational reason why this can't be achieved; I'm sure there's a legal excuse for it, but not a rational one. Wish there were!

I didn't really like the ending
I understand the ideology of Camus and how he was trying to deliver his message with this story but overall this was just disappointing and quite boring at times. Also, just because someone doesn't have very many feelings, doesn't mean they don't have the human instinct of self preservation, like dude, at least try to prove yourself innocent. It was basically self defense on behalf of someone else lol. I guess I just didn't really understand what Camus was trying to do with this book.

Excellent, haunting
Excellent, haunting.I have been working my way through Camus in the original and found this work to be very readable and understandable. It pulls you in. Often assigned to high school students, this book really cannot be appreciated (in my humble opinion) until at least a decade or two later. These books make much more sense to me today at the half century mark than they ever did in adolescence, when they just seemed dreary and weird. So kids, if you must read this, do, but come back when you're older and give it another chance.

Expected more!
Can't help but feel let down with this book. Recognized as a classic, but I didn't like the same person narration.... Didn't quite grasp me..

Essayez!
If you have read it in English, it is worth the extra effort to attempt it in French. Camus is pretty easy, comparatively speaking, to get through. Although his French is simple, it is rich and detailed. He never quite explains Merceau, but along the way one learns a great deal about the human condition.

C'est une jolie histoire à lire
J'aime bien les histoires qui sont courte parce que principalement je prête plus d'attention à la prononciation qu'à la narrative en soi-même.
