Tea Cozies

This is a fun book of patterns from the very simple to the very complex. You can be as basic or as elaborate as you like (the Springwatch pattern is intriguingly intricate). One of the more amusing designs is called Old Man's Hat and actually looks like an old holey cap. There are some crochet patterns but they are mostly knitted. If you are into cozies or want to try a new technique on a small scale (cables, knitting with beads)or just want something new to knit, try this book. I'm on my third cozy from this book already and I love it. Photos are great and instructions are clear.

I have made exactly one tea cozy from this book, the one on the cover, but it doesn't matter, it is such great fun to look at the illustrations.The instructions for the cover project were good enough I could work out how to make it from yarn much larger than the one recommended. It was a technique new to me, and turned out well.I like to pretend I'll make more cozies (they are so beautiful and imaginative) but probably I won't. I still recommend the book.

I waited months and months for this book! It was well worth the wait! What wonderful cozies - and such an array of patterns. I think that even some of these patterns are good for beginners, and hats off to those that can do the "scenes!" I wanted some basic patterns to work with and it has those.

I had owned this book once before-lent it to someone and never got it back ; therefore I was thrilled to re-discover it on Amazon. It has wonderful cozy patterns. Some are ridiculously simple and others not so. A great book!

I've made three cozies from this book and found errors in the patterns in all three. I contacted the publisher and each time got a quick, courteous and helpful reply. They had someone knit whatever it was and sent me corrected instructions. I suggested that they post corrections on their website, which had not at the time occurred to them. In one case, the corrected instructions had a WHOLE SECTION that was not in the book; that is, the rose that was to top the tea cozy was completely different in the correction than in the book, not just a stitch off.Anyway, my experience discourages me from pursuing this book or its sequel further, which is too bad. The publisher's representative who contacted me was very nice. They get lots of points for that.

I had been trying to find the knitting pattern for the cozy on the cover literally for years. When I saw the cover during one of my on line searches I was quite happy. The book has quite a variety of cozies which take little time. Some are more formal, some for children and some whimsical, which are my favorites.

I love this book. There are so many patters and ideas for one to make tea cozies. The patterns are easy to follow for someone like me who is just learning how to knit.

This book is the result of a contest where knitters created tea cozies in England. I saw the fluffy sheep cozy made up in a yarn shop and asked to buy the pattern. They were out of the book but gave me the title. Of course Amazon had it! I have had people walk up to me while I am knitting and the book is in front of me, and they want to look at it. Some very interesting tea cozies for all kinds of interests.

What a very helpful little book! The projects cover all abilities and most tastes, in my opinion, and are set out very clearly. There are even diagrams explaining the basic manouvres for both knitting and crochet to benefit absolute beginners. A great investment to bring a little cheer to colder days when woolcrafts are a tradition worth passing down to children and grandchildren. As a happy result of this collection of patterns I do hope more people rediscover the comforts of a pot of hot tea and a chat at the kitchen table?
