The G-Plan Diet - your gut will thank you forever
Hippocrates said: 'All disease begins in the gut' and he said that hundreds of years before antibiotics were around to mess up the gut flora. This book has genuinely revolutionised my dietary habits. I have lost weight and I feel so much better. As someone who has to take a low dose antibiotic for the rest of my life, eating this way - using the G-Plan meals I know that I can help my gut to help me. Well done to Amanda Hamilton for an excellent book.

A Radical 'Gut Cleanse' Book
I ordered this book because health and fitness is a passion with me, and I love to try new things. I've started to suffer more with heartburn and indigestion, just like my mother and grandmother before me, so I know it's time to take myself in hand. The book begins by explaining how important the gut is to general health and even makes claims that there is a link with not only IBS, heart disease and and type 2 diabetes but Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and arthritis. I'm not sure whether that's scientific fact as yet, or whether certain studies merely make a little-understood link. The authors seem to believe there's no doubt at all.The second half of the book introduces a radical Gut Cleanse in three stages - rest, re-wild and re-balance. It takes only three weeks, a bearable amount of time you'd think, but believe me this is a drastic solution. There are some delicious-sounding recipes and a very thorough plan to take you right through the full 21 days, then forward into the future. This book would suit you if you already know and practice a lot of modern health ideas - it's full of smoothies, flaxseeds, turmeric, almond milk, lentil bakes and kale salad - those sort of foods. It might also suit you if you want to go radical and try something completely fresh, when you've been a bit of a junk-food addict up until now.The book is beautifully produced with lovely illustrations and concludes with a page of specialist suppliers. Although there is plenty of 'white space' this book is not ideal for a visually disabled person such as myself - it would have made such a difference if they'd used a larger font in a darker colour.

Very attractive book for a super gross “diet”
I’ve done plenty of cleanses that involved super strict diets and was excited to try this plan. I went in 1000% and made things from scratch as suggested. I can suffer through some things, but just thinking about the broth, for example, still makes me nauseous. Like all cleanse diets this one used a variety of ingredients that are super challenging to find outside of large cities and also some of the recipe directions were lacking in details. For example, you’re supposed to be able to make a meal and use it or portions of it for other, future meals, but there’s not a second recipe to work from you just have to figure it out. Like broth and seeds…. Do the seeds go into it? Frankly I have no idea having never eaten yucky broth with leftover seeds before. Maybe if I didn’t despise all plants related to licorice I would have fared better. I love the idea of this book and eating for intestinal health, but making it this gross turns people away. If you’re looking for an alternative to this plan I suggest the whole approach candida diet.

Feeling better for the change in diet.
I had been having some food issues but was unable to track anything specific, so I decided to try out this mostly plant based diet since it is only for a three week stint (and even I, with no will power for resisting food, should be able to manage that 😳). To be fair I always make food from scratch and almost never eat convenience or junk food, but even so I found the first 2-3 days of the diet quite fiddly as I rarely use recipes and had to cook different meals for the family. Once I passed the first few days it became easier thanks to the batch cooking suggestions. The meal quantities were very generous even for my rather large appetite, so I was never hungry. I felt much better while on the diet, and as a side benefit lost 4lbs (mostly round my belly). I loved the variety of foods combined in some of the meals and Going forward I plan to have set days each week to use these new recipes. I learned a lot of interesting tips about food combinations, too, which I really enjoyed.

not appealing to me
I only found a couple of recipes I'd actually even try. Many recipes call for ingredients that would not be on my regular shopping list-ever. Not the right cookbook for me.
