This pen delivers great looks and a great writing experience at a bargain price
I'm a serious user of fountain pens and a casual collector of them. I use fountain pens when I have to do any prolonged writing because they're easier on my arthritic hands than other pen types. I ordered the Dryden Luxury Bamboo Fountain Pen because I wanted a handsome, but different looking, pen under $50. So far, I've been well pleased with it. The packaging is very professional, with the pen held inside a finished wooden case. The pen comes without ink but with an ink converter inside the pen's barrel. Pen barrel and cap have the bamboo finish as shown. The threads holding the section (with nib and ink feed) work smoothly with no binding. The converter also worked smoothly when I loaded it with ink. (I used Noodler's Bernake Blue.) Even with the cap posted, this pen is light in the hand and nicely balanced, and frankly writes better than I expected. The medium nib lays down a smooth line of ink. I experienced no skips even when I deliberately tried to force skips by writing as fast as I could. Lower-price pens (I don't own any expensive ones) can skip in this situation because the ink feed can't keep up with demand. The Dryden bamboo pen still worked great in that situation--no skips at all. To sum it up, this is a great-looking pen that will get compliments and writes as well as it looks. This pen is well worth the money.

What I was looking for
If you are looking for a great pen look no further. I get nothing but compliments with this pen. It's become my favorite pen, it is a true fountain pen. The writing is smooth and the great thing is it does come with the refillable bulb inside. So all you need is this pen and a thinner ink to get started. Its a heavy pen which I truly love its well balanced and just amazing. It took me forever to finally come to picking "THE" pen. There are so many options out there I went with this one because it had great reviews, it came with the bulb inside and was a great price but it also came with a one year warranty I'm a huge fan of warranties. This does come in an equally impressive box the other thing that caught my attention is you get a little card from the owner saying thank you for the business and hope you enjoy your pen, if you run into any problems please let us know, that was truly that blew me away because nowadays many businesses don't appreciate the money you give them but this one did. So in all i really do love this pen, I'm thinking of getting another one. and if you want a high quality, beautiful, and worthy pen this is it.

Pretty good--so far.
I recently purchased two Dryden Luxury Fountain Pens, one for myself, one for my wife. Though it is still early in the game I haven't been disappointed. First of all, the advertising is correct. This is an elegant-looking pen presented in an attractive gift box, both bamboo. The bamboo is well-finished in a sort of eggshell finish and the decorative accouterments are of a gold-colored metal, well-designed and tasteful. But be warned; this doggy is SMALL. It measures less than 5" from nib tip to the back end of the pen and it doesn't post--which means that you are writing with a pen that totals less than 5" long. In comparison a cheap Pentel ballpoint with the cap posted measures just a hair under 7". I have a medium hand for a male: if this pen were any shorter I'd have a hard time writing with it. The nib (quite small but in proportion to the rest of the pen) is advertised as a "medium" but is actually somewhere between medium and fine. It is not the smoothest nib on the planet but it writes smoothly enough and will undoubtedly get better with time--they all do. It looks suspiciously like one of those Jinhao nibs (probably expected in this price range) so time will tell the tale of it's longevity (or not). It is certainly not as smooth as, say, the nib of a Pilot Metropolitan, a pen of similar price and design. Function? Well, I plugged a Mont Blanc black cartridge into the Dryden and it fired right up. It does come with a converter but I wasn't impressed with how the converter looked (may be just great) and there have been reports of leaks. the Mont Blanc cartridge fits well. It started writing after only a couple of swipes at the paper and so far writes "first time, every time", though in fairness the longest I've gone without writing with is is three days. It puts down a medium-fine line with no skips, though I'm not a fast writer--if you go for speed there may be problems. BOTTOM LINE: A pen in line with the price paid for it. You aren't getting the quality of Sailor, Mont Blanc, etc. but then again you are paying pennies instead of hundreds of dollars. But it writes well enough and is a handsome little devil. The bamboo presentation box is a nice touch, as well. So far, I'm satisfied.

Fantastic product and service
This is an amazing fountain pen. I am a collector of sorts. I have found fountain pens fascinating since I was a young person. I have bought dozens over the years. I have mostly been disappointed in most of the new pens. Many of them do not operate well. They scratch and I have to shake it to get the ink to come down or tap the pen. This pen has a great design and wrote nicely from the minute I added ink. How very impressive. The pen itself has a very sleek look to it, and obviously looks much more expensive than it actually is. I have spent hundreds on fountain pens and this one tops them all. I’m considering purchasing several of them to give as gifts. I will definitely be a repeat customer. The service has been extraordinary. The owner has written me several emails asking questions to make sure I am happy. I love supporting a small family business. The personal touches are fantastic. This pen came with the ink converter and the ability to use cartridges. I didn’t have to buy extras. I highly recommend this pen.

What a fantastic fountain pen, I'm so happy with myself for buying it, however I may have to buy a second bamboo fountain pen, I don't like the way my wife keeps eyeballing it everytime I use it! My last fountain pen I had purchased here was absolute garbage and is literally in the garbage, mind you though it was a rather inexpensive pen, as the old saying goes, "You Get What You Pay For" . Also It was approximately a third of the price of this Dryden and just to be clear and fair that last pen wasn't a Dryden. While writing with this bamboo beauty you will not experience any blotching or any dragging/scratching from this fountain pen. Across the paper it glides, doesn't skip or bleeds excessive ink. Everything Dryden advertised is 100% true. Being left handed, I do not have the greatest handwriting skills so please bare with me on that, but I took a photo comparing a ballpoint pen to this Dryden bamboo fountain pen, please take a gander, it's a huge difference. Also I purchased a bottle of high quality of Waterman ink to go with it. I still have a couple of cartridges that I purchased separately from my last pen however I'm reluctant to use them on this pen. I want the very best of ink and I fear that a lower quality ink might clog up the nib. Besides I enjoy using the converter that came with the pen. All in all it's a 5 out 5 across the board on this one folks.

I received in bad condition. But the Writing quality is good.

I installed the reservoir for bottled ink and purchased a bottle. The pen fills nicely and writes well. The ink doesn't seem to dry out between fillings. I did take it apart and wash it out carefully when I wanted to change the ink. (I wanted something more permanent that wouldn't smudge when I painted watercolors over top!)
