An extremely good investment !!!!!
Firstly I’m not sure how these USGI Bivvy Bags were packaged prior to issue so I’m not entirely sure what I’m looking at but the sealed clear package and attached product label appears to be original and appears never to have been opened. Upon opening the package I have conducted a minute and detailed inspection of the bivvy bag inside and out and it is in pristine condition and there is no sign of it ever having been used. It also has a slight chemical scent (presumably from the sealant on the tape sealed seams ?) of a factory new product. The attached fabric label sewn into the bivvy bag shows no wear what so ever, the snaps are tight and show no sign of wear, and there is no extraneous material caught up in the Velcro patches on the hood (an unavoidable and sure sign the product has been used in the field), once again leading me to believe this item is new and has never been out of its package or been issued. All things considered I’m extremely pleased with my purchase and it was well worth the money spent. I’m very much looking forward to field testing this product. Many thanks Ozark Outdoorz and Amazon.

Don’t think it’s Goretex…
I bought this and spent one night in a rainforest with it. It didn’t take longer than a half our, if that, to become completely saturated with water (On the inside too). I returned this product and to the sellers credit they issued me a refund no problem (Which they should) but I really don’t believe this was true Goretex. There was no label on it saying what it was made of.Definitely not waterproof as it claims to be.

Good fit over large mummy bag, blocks wind, seems to really reduce heat loss.
This was basically a new item. No signs of wear, no holes, no patching. Great condition.Bought as a cover for my Slumberjack Lattitude -20F Large bag. It fits perfectly. I was concerned about my sleeping bag fitting since it's a large/long model, but it was just about perfect. I'm 6'2" 230 LBS and it was a comfortable fit. Really reduces the heat loss on your bag. My testing is limited so far, but I'm very happy with the product initially. Planning to test more and will update accordingly when I do.Slept outside with this and my Slumberjack -20 bag last night. Shelter was just a tarp lean to, so pretty much non existent, just a wind break.Temp was 17F with 5F windchill. I also had a good ground pad under me. I got cold at 3:30AM but had slipped off my ground pad. I cracked a reusable hand warmer in my bag and slid back onto my ground pad and I was good until morning. Woke up hot, but the temp had risen to 24F by then. I wore just long underwear, hat and neck warmer. It was great having this around my bag seemed to really stop any wind effects and very much eliminated the air infiltration caused by moving around too much in your bag. Kept that warm pocket of air pretty well.I would not worry about this with my warm bag at 0 degrees or maybe -10 with little concern, much colder and you'll have to have a decent shelter, you'll survive, but might not be much fun.

It was just good, not very good.
The one I received was supposed to be used/very good but it did have a small hole that had been patched. I haven’t checked it for leaks yet.

Very nice.
I purchased a used one that was rated at good. It looks almost new but after looking at it you can tell it had been issued but not used often. After examining it very closely I couldn't detect any delamination of the fabric which would indicate that it was overheated and lost it's waterproofing.Just in case you are wondering delamination looks similar to bubbles in paint. The product was very clean with no odors and wrapped with very tough plastic, but it was not vacuum packed. That isn't a worry since I planned on using very often.I have used with my scout sleeping bag and the fit is great and does almost increase the warmth rating about ten degrees.Just remember to wash and dry on gentle with the appropriate laundry detergent. Also don't leave directly exposed to high heat, leave in the back seat of a car during summer and things like that so it stays waterproof as long as possible. With a line you can fit it on your backpack to be used as a rain fly.

The lining began to peel away from the inner seams ...
The lining began to peel away from the inner seams of the sack as soon as I opened it. It kept me dry through a weekend, but with those seams unlined I'm not sure how much I trust it to keep more than dew off of me. Still, the price was reasonable and it arrived quick.

Great product but a little heavy
I use this bivy with a tarp and it weighs as much as the tarp. However, This thing breaths very well. As long as you don't zip it up completely and breath inside it, you should stay dry with it. Because I use it with a tarp, I don't zip all the way up. I use it as a cover for my sleep system to keep it dry and the bugs out. It can probably add 10 degrees to the rating of your sleep system. Great bivy to start out with and see if you like how a bivy sleeps. IT IS VERY VERY RUGGED. You should not have any problem with this bivy getting torn during a backpacking trip.
