The sizes aren't a little off, they are flat out WRONG
So I've read great reviews about these shoes and decided to try them for my upcoming Spartan race. All I'm gonna say is, wow, how frustrating!! I wear a size 8 women's. Period. In a running shoe, dress shoe, always a size 8, for the past 30 years. After reading the reviews, I ordered the first pair a size bigger. Wayyyy too small. 3 weeks to race day now. So I ordered a size bigger. Too big. I'm so irked now that I just tightened the laces and kept them (2 weeks to race day now) but they are definitely too big. Moral of the story??--- If you really want these friggin shoes, order early, and ordered 1.5 sizes too big!!**UPDATE: I just wanted to update this for those who are looking at these shoes for the OCR events. The women's shoes recommended for these races were sold out of my size everywhere which is why I got these. I wouldn't call this a "minimalist" shoe like some do-- they felt pretty normal and supportive. I ran with several ladies who had the women's shoes (not sure which brand but they were ones recommended for these races), and theirs didn't look like they had near the support that these ones do.As for performance, they did me well on the muddy hills and great on rocks. I was disappointed that they didn't help at all on the rope climb (the rope is one of my strengths but the rope was muddy which was another obstacle in itself!!), they slid right off when attempting the J hook, but I'm guessing no shoe would likely help with that. These shoes got very wet and stayed wet, so I can't say I noticed any difference than a normal tennis shoes in that regard. Overall I was happy with how they held up on race day but I will try a different brand next time since these are too big (and I'm still irked about that).

Excellent Spartan Shoe. Great customer service from Inov8!!!
I purchased these shoes for a spartan sprint race about 2 weeks before the event. After running in them about 5 times I noticed that many of the lugs were cracking/tearing off at the base. I attempted to contact the seller on Amazon, but did not get a response. I then contacted Inov8 with only a few days left before the race. Inov8 customer service was EXCELLENT and they assured me that is was MOST CERTAINLY a product defect and that they would send me a new pair before my race. Sure enough they came right in time and performed perfectly. No cracked lugs. I highly recommend buying from Inov8 as they back up their product without a hassle. Now, for how the shoe fits:I typically wear an 8.5 women's in running shoes. These shoes definitely run narrow, especially along the outer edge of the toebox. However, that said, I can't wear a sloppy shoe on the trail, so I bought a size 9 (in standard fit, not precision), which is only 1/2 a size larger than my normal size. The shoe fits great and I had no issues on my 5.6 mile spartan race. It was a muddy, rainy, day on Mt. Killington and I was flying downhill like a mountain goat. Excellent traction for mud. The shoe does not have much cushion, but that is not an issue for me because I'm light on my feet when I run. It is a very nice light shoe with a tough, yet flexible upper. It doesn't loosen up as you run either. If you are buying this shoe for hiking or are not as performance oriented, then I would go a whole size up. If you are an elite runner and need the performance or a close fitting shoe, go for 1/2 size up.

not for me
I sized up one size based on other reviews and they felt amazing on my feet. they fit like a glove. two issues caused me to return them without giving them a go. The sole is super flexible, you can basically fold it in half both ways, which is a no-go for me due to some plantar fascitis issues, I need a more stable, supportive sole. Second, the cleats (I'm calling them cleats because that's what they are, but they are of a softer rubber than typical baseball/softball cleats) are very deep, like deeper than my softball cleats so I'd imagine running on anything other than super soft mud or dirt/sand would be pretty brutal as far as feel goes, as well as wear. since my runs vary from pavement to rocks, to hardpack, to soft dirt, to mud, I think I need a more balanced shoe with less deep cleats. If you have a wide foot these are not going to work, but if you have a medium or narrow foot, like minimalist shoes and are looking for some serious deep cleated traction, these things are definitely the way to go. I'm bummed I had to return them.

New Standard size still a little small for slightly wider feet
Let me start off by saying that this is for the new Standard (S) size, and not the Precision (P) fit. Sometimes Amazon will combine reviews for multiple versions, so be sure you know what version is actually being reviewed. My feet are a little wider than average. I usually wear a size 9 or 9.5. I like the Sketchers wide fit hiking shoes (9.5), as they are one of the only lower priced show that fits me. I also wear a size 9 Merrel Trail Glove and the toe box is perfect for me. I've tried the X-Talon 200's on, and they were perfect in a 9.5. I went with a 9.5 (S) for the 212 and strangely, the right fit foot just perfect, but the left was a little crammed in the middle toes. I've never had one side fit and the other not. Maybe my left foot is getting a little weird at my age (35), I don't know. My mom has the same issue. So, I'm returning these and trying the 10's. So, if you're feet are a little wider than average, you'll still want to size up with the Standard fit. I'll edit this when I get a pair that fit and do some actual hiking/running in them.

Great All Around Shoe, But Not For OCR Racing
There isn't much I can say that is negative about the Inov-8 X-Talon 212.. It is insanely lite and the fit (though slightly narrow) felt like a glove. There was plenty of comfort as the lugs felt soft when wearing around, though you could still feel the lugs a bit when walking. I probably could have gone a 1/2 size smaller, but did not. I had to return these shoes as I found out they had "0" (yes, Zero) drainage and for OCR Racing that is a huge No-No. I had friend tell me to drill holes in them, but figured why ruin a pair of shoes that technically should do what is necessary already. Though this is an early series of the X-Talon it is still a great shoe. I would have kept it if I were more of a straight trail runner, but competing in OCR and having mud and water inside the shoe does not go well. Time to look at some of the newer Inov-8's.

Ligera.
Zapatillas muy ligeras, estructura no rigida, se adaptan bien al terreno, si buscas una deportiva que te aguante el pie esta no es, hacen bien para lo que estan pensadas.

Quite disappointed!
I am a classic size 9. I bought the unisex mens 9/womens 10.5There was no mention of a percision/standard style. I received the percision which is super narrow and my feet are not wide! I put one foot in and knew it would not work. One reason i was attracted to these runners was the aggressive tread! I took a good look at these runners and for 144 dollars with tax they are crap! Very, very over priced! I will go back to Adidas trail runners! Thankful for Amazon’s return policy! Cheers!

Ligereza, precisión y buen agarre.
Me encantan.
