Was a sceptic…. Ok impressed
Jenn- air dishwasher lower dish rack is discontinued ($365 was cost for replacement.. and can’t find anywhere). 3 times for appliance parts companies stating it was the right product delivery and wasn’t the right product.. return, refunds.. PITA!!Started googling and found this product..I didn’t want to replace my dishwasher. It works great but I need a lower rack ..What am I to do? So I tried this product and I am impressed..YES .. you must follow the directions1. It’s like a super thick, nail polish and air drys to tackiness almost immediately…2. Do the finger over the bottle has other reviewers stated… trust me the product will dry out in the bottle fast and get thick3. I have rags or something underneath your product in case it drips .. use your leftover Covid plastic glove.. to cover your finger over the bottle4. It states two coats… I did three5. Prepping is so important.!!. I soaked the area of rust overnight with paper towels, drenched in vinegar and sealed over with foil6. Sanding down the rusted area around the twine at the dish washer rack, getting off the rust and plastic area.7. Cleaned it off with alcohol.- let all dry before starting the coating8. I had a very large area plus some extra areas noticing getting rested…I probably would get another bottle as a back upColor matching was an issue. I did get the dark gray, which was a little darker, but better than the light gray for my rack. Now I waited more than the time required and I’ll run my dishwasher in the next few days. Hopefully this product works…. HummmBTW.. I am over 65 and this was easy for me to do!

Have to apply multiple coats
Sticks well and is holding up. But you will have to apply several coats to get it even with the existing rack coating.

Works Great!!!
I bought a second bottle because I used up the first. Take some time to prep the areas properly and you won't be disappointed. Very durable coating so far and certainly much cheaper than letting the rusting areas propagate until the dishwasher racks completely rust away.

Saved my dishwasher racks
Goes on like thick fingernail polish and dries quickly so you need to do your prep thoroughly and work quickly when you open the bottle. I used a small file and med grit sand paper to clean and prep the rusted areas then wiped down the bare metal with rubbing alcohol and a cotton cloth before applying the product. Applying two to three coats works best to make sure all the metal is covered and the surface is built up close to the original coating. The dark gray color is darker than the original coating but the light gray is too light so you have to chose one. I have run the dishwasher about 4 times since applying this coating and it seems to be holding up. Cheap repair that can extend the life of very expensive replacement racks.

Does what it said it would
We had on small spot on our top rack, my husband sanded it then pained it with this and it's been fine since.

Was easy to apply
Instructions were clear and rusted parts are still covered. No new scratches on the interior of dishwasher door.

Effective
Good for saving your rusty rack. Just make sure you cut away peeling plastic and thoroughly clean off any rust. Only wish the product was thicker, instead of having to paint on multiple coats.

Durable Effective Product When Used Properly
Have used this product numerous times and never had a repaired area start rusting again, BUT, make sure rack dry before applying as any water trapped under sealant will restart the leak and begin rusting again. A heat gun or letting rack dry for several days is recommended. Badly rusted areas should be cleaned with a Dremel wire brush or similar. Use under very good light to see areas with slight rust discoloration but no obvious hole in coating. The formulation seems to have been changed and dries VERY fast so prepare surface in advance, treat quickly, then close bottle. Instructions say thinning with acetone is possible but as acetone (or acetone fingernail polish remover) is very flammable and you will only need a few drops at a time recommend having only a small amount in an glass eye dropper bottle. As many rust spots will show a slight rust color before the top coat tears a good follow on product would be a thinner, slower drying product, that could be painted on larger suspect areas. Such a product must be food grade of course.
