We have a French Bulldog (male) & the 28" suited him fine as a puppy in fact he still uses it a lot. However, he is now 6 months old & likes to stretch out so we bought a 34" as well ! If money & space is not an issue go for the 34". Hope this helps.Regards.

What is the material of the outer / cover please? on amazon it says cotton but on other retailers it says polyester

The material is cotton and washable. These are great beds and I have two and would buy again.

They are about right. My dogs are small Podenco (about Jack Russel size.) They are very hard wearing beds..
