Great Price
This DVD arrived promptly and in good condition. I use this for my own personal use. Overall I am very happy with this product and I would definitely purchase similar items in the future.

Heavily let down with the final episode.
I was anticipating this adaptation for a long time. During a visit to Arley Hall (in Cheshire where Peaky Blinders was also filmed) I was walking our dog in the hall's garden's and it sounded like a local area was at war! I asked the staff and I was informed about the filming of a new adaptation of H.G Well's novel. I later learned that it was going to be a period adaptation and I truly believed that the Beeb would do justice to what Spielberg failed at. As the three part series eventually aired I was quite impressed, even with the many changes made. By the final episode I was completely disappointed, but I've just watched it again. I'm still aghast that this final episode was allowed to be filmed, the budget could have gone toward the definitive adaptation of one of this countries greatest works of literature. Instead it was another disappointment. When the best example of the adaptation is an American film from the 50s then all filmmakers since then should be ashamed, especially the BBC who had the opportunity, and the budget, to make the definitive adaptation.

not what it said on the case
The only thing this series has in common with HG Wells novel is the name. If you want to watch a War of the Worlds film, get the 56 film. If you want to get a good representation of the book get Jef Waynes concert. The first thing I noticed was on the DVD case, where it is marked as episodes 1 to 3, I hope they are not planning more......I have marked this as a sci fi romp, and given it a generous three stars. It is set in Edwardian England and those in government appear to want to blame the Russians. The "death ray" looks like a swarm of bees, the tripods look like trees, the martians look like 3 legged spiders, and the "Brave Ironclad Thunderchild" does not even get a name check, but looks like an Iron Duke super dreadnaught, and finally most of the three hours is centred on surviving the post invasion.I was disappointed, it was a totally missed opportunity, to do justice to the bookPity.

A Brillint Adaptation of War of The Worlds
Despite all the naysayers bad mouthing this new approach to H.G Wells' timeless science fiction story, as a succesful writer of science fiction I take my hat off to everyone invoved in this powerfully told adaptation of War of The Worlds. I look forward to the second series. Hopefully I wont have to wait too long to see it.
