The tube saturation is a nice feature as well
I got this on an impulse buy one payday just to check it out. I installed it, opened it in Reaper and it worked right away. I tested it with my AT2020 mic as the input and a the Royer ribbon model as the output. The tube saturation is a nice feature as well. Of course it doesn't sound exactly like the mics it models, but it is nice to have some extra options when mixing.

Great Product. Be Sure to buy iLok key usb with it!!
Definitely a great product. There should be some sort of extra detail about usb needed to run software. If purchasing make sure you buy both this software and the ilok key usb. other than that great product i have had no problems with it!

Saves on microphones
The program is pretty cool from the application to the ease of use. though nothing is like the real thing it does sound within reason like the originals .

Absolutely amazing! Kudos to Antares.
I have had great results using the Mic Mod EFX plug-in in ProTools to compensate for the use of totally inappropriate microphones on a live recording. The recording session was mine, so it may seem odd to complain, but I was not able to get the mics I preferred on saxophones, trumpets and trombones for a big band recording in Tokyo. The language barrier was a big slow-down and I had far too many hats to wear so I let the stage crew choose the microphones. BIG MISTAKE!! And one I will never make again. They made the completely ridiculous choice of Shure Beta 58 for all nine horn instruments. No slam on Shure intended, but even they would immediately say no to such an application. My bad, truly. The Mic Mod plug-in was the first plug-in in the chain for each of the nine instruments, prior to dynamics and EQ. I set the source mic to Beta 58, and the modeled mics as follows; to Royer R121 ribbon for all the brass; and my favorite AKG C12a for the woodwinds, mics I never would have travelled with and placed on a nightclub stage. Setting the proximity controls for source and modeled mics has a huge effect on the resulting tone.Once I felt satisfied with the individual sounds I was literally floored by the result listening to the entire horn section. I ended up with very minimal EQ on the brass and mostly high pass filters on the woodwinds. This is exactly what I would expect when choosing microphones carefully prior to recording so I have to really tip my hat to Antares. The change was so profound, I feel that this literally saved the recording. It transformed my mix session from a struggle to a joy. What more can I say than that?
