Excellent operating system
This operating system is the sort of operating system that you just put on and use for a very long time. It just does not break. ALL of the drivers for all goodies you can do with a computer are not there, but if you play big time games with a computer, you want the big time programs. It is an excellent business computer. It is an excellent introduction to Linux Operating System. This program provides you with more than merely the operating system and it would be a very good gift to a young person who wants to know more about programing and making the system do exactly what she/he wants it to do. At the same time, it is an excellent operating system for a small business. All the Linux system will allow you to mount them beside the Windows program, or allow you to wipe the old Windows and mount the Linux. If you have an old computer sitting around at work or home, mount a Linux on it and see what's cooking.

I was tricked - I was wrong in saying this (4-5-2013)
I purchased this set of disks understanding from the ads this person put out that from it I could install Suse Linux. It did install something but it did something but it would not work. Mostly the whole thing was an ad to spend almost $75 for a course. I will not deal with this vender again as I feel that I was tricked. I really would like my money back.Actually, I did get it to install and liked it very much. Sorry about the poor rating, but I guess my computer would not mount the disk before, so It was my computer's fault, not the disk. 04-05-2013

Save your money
Your paying 27 dollars for a program that is free. This program is available from the publishers for free just go on your search engine and type opensuse. The operating system itself is very good, I wouldn't say the best, but good. I personally prefer Ubuntu. There is a large repository (apps) that you can use and they are all free, its a nice alternative to windows. But again I wouldnt pay the 27 dollars this is selling it for because the program is free from the creators of the opensuse operating system. If you want it on a cd you can get a blank cd at a dollar store and burn it on that. This guy is basically charging you close to $30 for burning software that is free to the public.

Could not get this to install on my machine!
Kept aborting the install because it said there was not enough space on my hard drive. Tried to install this product to use a dual boot OS with Windows Vista. I could not get past this hurdle.

Good for programming
SUSE Multimedia is not "ready" to run, due to licenses or whatever. For comparison, Ubuntu does not have such problem. Multimedia runs just fine there after installation. But I needed Linux for programming, where the situation is reverse. Suse installs with all programming tools in place, while Ubuntu did not have C++ available. However, if you have high speed connection, that does not matter, you download and install whatever you need.I live in boonies, with modem connection. I cannot download a thing. So DVD must have all I need.

Fun Intro to Linux
I am a re-hashed mainfame operating systems guy who also did some support for Unix a decade ago. I bought this to play around with and was amazed at the ease of install compared to all of the dorking around I had to do with my last install of XP. I have not done as much as I thought I would at this point as my real job thinks that it takes a priority over playing with Linux. So my comments are 1) very easy install 2) connected to my wireless network with no problems 3) my wife liked the games 4) very inexpensive OS option if you wish to look at something besides MicroSoft or Apple.

Leave Windows Vista behind!!
Wow, who would have thought that Unix would be a cool Windows-type operating system. For under $30 I have an OS that is as easy to use as Windows, already has Microsoft Office compatible Word Processing installed, and installed itself adding all the hardware (video and printer) drivers--no muss; no fuss! (actually, I had to replace my Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse with corded ones, but no problem! I don't need anything else to browse the Internet, download music, and play Youtube! Very cool. This software set includes a training program which I still have to go through, but I'm jazzed!

Easy way to upgrade from openSUSE 11.1 to 12.2
My computer was already dual bootable, with Windows and openSUSE 11.1. Decided this was the approach I wanted to follow to upgrade to openSUSE 12.2 and I was not disappointed. 4 box disc and basic instruction cards came quickly and following the instructions to insert relevant (32 bit) disc, reboot and follow instructions on the screen worked fine. Installation found my existing Linux partition and I selected to overwrite this and it went ahead fine. All the accounts and settings were as they were before and logging on was as expected, with look and feel similar. Now enjoying finding all the new features and at last can watch Flash video on BBC Website again as well as finally getting into Thunderbird and Lightening email/calendar. Only thing I had to do was edit "/boot/grub/menu.lst" so that "default 3" on line 5 was "default 1" which was the list option openSUSE Desktop is on (counting from 0) in GRUB startup, so now I can turn the computer on and leave it to get to the openSUSE desktop login screen without touching anything (much to wife and son's appreciation). Do go into YAST after installation and do an update - it is rather a large one, but hey this is Linux where the only constant is change.

Vermutliche Zollprobleme

Very Disappointed
I was, as my title states, very disappointed with this product. As a Newbie to Linux I would have expected better, in fact I might if I could manage to get into the O/S! I run two 'Asrock' Socket 462's computers one runs Windows 7 and the other Windows XP both with AMD Sempron CPU's 2Gigs of RAM and 2 X 40 Gig hard drives.Well I put the open SuSE V 12.3 install DVD into my second H/D (D:) hit F11 boot menu and selected the appropriate drive and all went OK.That is until after the reboot and the computer asked for the username/password, asked for the username/password, and then it asked for the username/password, etc. and that was far as I got. So, I rebooted with the same result.I then re-formatted the D; drive and tried again, No different.Suspecting that perhaps there was something wrong with my system I Cleared my D:drive (HD USB Docking Station) on my other computer and tried again, with exactly the same result.Contacting the Vendor (openSuSe help advised me to do this)gave me a lot of 'Guff' about selecting the right drive to boot from, but nothing positive or useful!!So, the openSuSE V 12.3 has been returned. Since than I managed to borrow V 11.1 from a friend, and believe it or not this runs OK. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful to hear from them.Recently, having tried several Linux Distro's It appears that my Asrock Mobo and AMD CPU will not run this Distro as well as other similar versions. I currently have installed Mandriva 2007 which runs fine and did the first time.
