does direction of rotation matter for output?

Accepted Answer

If you want to rotate clockwise then connect the negative wire (black one) to the negative one of the thing you want to power.  The red one should go with the positive end.  You can rotate in the other direction, but then the black wire is positive and the red one is negative so you just have to keep that in mind.

Question 2

What are the lowest rpms that it can run to produce roughly 100watts? OR what is the curve?

Accepted Answer

That is good resistance,  the answer is based on what the resistance is of what you are trying to power up.   Are you going to  power up a light?  A battery?   A cell phone?    Keep in mind that nearly any electrical system is less efficient at lower Voltages because of losses due to resistance in the wire and in the armature of the generator.    Is efficiency an issue?       Making the assumption that we are going to run at 500 RPMs (revolutions per minute),  then you would see approximately 3 Volts DC coming from the generator.     If you want 100 Watts of power at 3 Volts then the current going through your load would need to be  about 33.3 Amps     The generator is not rated for that much current.  So if we double that  speed to 1000 Watts,  you  would get about 6 Volts from the generator.   At this point you would need about 15 Amps of current to deliver 100 Watts to the load.    6 Volts divided by 15 Amps would be   0.4 Ohms resistance.   (Volts / Amps = Resistance). can it be used with a bicycle in movement or only a stationary one?

Accepted Answer

When you attach this generator while moving it will add resistance to your pedaling so that you will have to work harder than normal.  So for instance if you wanted to put a 20 Amp Hour 12V Battery onto your bike and charge the battery while you ride the bike around town.   This would make it very hard to make your bike go faster than 5 miles per hour because it would place such a drag on your tire.  If you installed a button on your handle bars for regenerative breaking,  then you could use this button when you go down a hill or only when you want to stop the bike,  that way you could harvest the kinetic  energy  (1/2 x Mass x Velocity)  from your bike and put it into the battery.

Can it be used to charge a 48v ebike battery?

Accepted Answer

You will have to have a inverter On a bike this gen. will make 12v or 24v. unevenly.  That is not  the gen.  It's the pedaling on the bike. If  you put a charge controller for a wind mill it will even out the highs. and the lows. Then invert to 48v
