Noticeable improvement in Plex on Synology 920+
Purchased a 250GB SSD as it was on the Synology 920+ compatible list to use as a read only cache. I’d seen all the worries and concerns re read write failures using a Raid cache, so decided to install just the one drive, read only. The main functions of my NAS are file storage and Plex media server. Whilst I didn’t expect miracles, I was aware that Plex UI could see some speed improvements with the SSD cache, and so far, that has proved to be the case. However, I would note that speed improvements have been limited to higher performance devices, and lower performance devices haven’t seen any improvements. As an example, the Plex native app on a cheap LG smart tv has always been incredibly slow to navigate on a local network, images take a while to load and the home dashboard takes a while to sync. Speed of playback start is also as slow as previously seen. However, on higher performance devices such as iOS, MacOS and Roku 4K, there are very clear improvements. On MacOS and iOS, thumbnails load instantly, dash appears much quicker and when you load a library item, all associated extras are there almost instantly. In the past, film extras, collections, Tidal playlists etc took a second or two or three to connect and load… these now appear without delay. On both, buffering before playback starts is also much improved with an almost instant start of media up to 1080p… 4k takes a second or two longer. On Roku 4K, the improvements are there, but not quite as pronounced. Dash and media screens load faster, and although media playback starts quicker, it’s not as instant as MacOS or iOS, but these are obviously much more powerful devices to start with. For the cost, £30, I would definitely say that I am happy with the outlay and performance boost for my Plex needs.

faster than I thought, faster than I need
in short, it is indeed very fast even on budget modern laptops. to get it working you will need several steps though, be prepared, this may not be plug-n-play. and if you set everything right you'll have just a bit over 200 gigabytes (it's 230+ out of the box and then you do the 10%OP). firstly I wish Samsung or Amazon would include the m2 little screw. S puts bunch of unnecessary papers, A can throw in lots of packing material, and no-one adds that little penny-worth screw, not to say a basic screwdriver (like one very successful Swedish retailer, uh?) borrowing the missing screw from another laptop part and my hardware installation is done in two minutes. then checking the BIOS; bingo, nvme there is. then downloading Samsung driver from their website. then populating, or whats it called, the drive, in the Device Manager. formatting for further bootable use. running speed tests with (downloaded) Magician. running Samsung software migration utility, some 10+ minutes for copying 100gb from SATA SSD. reserving 10% for Over Positioning. checking speeds again. changing boot priority in BIOS. and it works. Windows starts in under 10 seconds. all settings and programs work fine. the SATA drive shall become a media storage. this NVME could do even faster on all 4 PCI lanes, I know; I think it is very similar to what I have in x1. but I have one little screw missing on my laptop's cover, used it for fixing this ssd to the motherboard :-(

Great product, very pleased
Fantastic price. I brought this to boot my windows from. And all fans and radiator is booted from the m.2. All my applications on the pc for work is also on the m.2. This leaves my 4tb SSD free for saved work and games. And if I am hacked/cyber attaked they go for the operating system. This is why I kept is separate to my saved work on different memory platforms. And for the price for that extra security. I can't complain! Easy to install and easy drivers to install

Seriously fast and reliable, BUT WARNING, read on...
As an ex laptop engineer of many years I can for certain say that this product is the total dog's. Don't waste your money for lesser crap, i.e. budget 'King' stuff of much poorer performance! BUT this very fast 970 EVO plus subsequently suffers from the BIG problem of it running an uncomfortably VERY hot in use, which is recognised to reduce life in SSD's. That is why SSD's should never be de fragmented, because of the heat generated. Best to make sure the 'Trim' command is enabled on your computer. I have two of these fitted in two different external caddy's for different purposes, and I have fitted cooling fins to reduce them down to an acceptable temperature. See my other relevant reviews on this subject for more advice and explanations. I say buy, BUT make sure they run not too hot...

Very quick SSD
I bought this (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB) to replace the original 120GB SSD in a Dell 7577 running Windows 10 which had gradually filled up. I initialised & formatted it and then cloned it using the Samsung migration software download. It was very easy to use and after that it was a straight swap into the laptop. Speed wasn't the main point but for info, the computer used to start up (powered off to search result back from Google) in 38 seconds. With the new SSD, this came down to 23 seconds. Time will tell about longevity but it comes with a 5 year limited warranty from Samsung. I also bought this external SSD enclosure which was compatible and easy to use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08FD3J5J6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Stunning read and write speeds
I just installed this NVME SSD into the dedicated connector directly on the motherboard of my Alienware Aurora R7 PC. The original conventional hard drive (7200 RPM) was giving a very respectible 154 MB/s Read and 147 MB/s Write. This Samsung increased these readings quite dramatically: 3562 MB/s Read and 2144 MB/s Write. Stunning performance. Samsung are the leaders in superfast SSDs and this one is no exception.

Very great product. The last image I attached is the test result of the HDD I previously used Toshiba MQ04ABF100 1TB 5400RPM. The first two are the test results of the two partitions of the SSD drive, just see the difference- 25X faster than the HDD. The price for the 250GB size is INR 5000, this product worth it. This SAMSUNG SSD 970 EVO Plus is the SSD with the best PCIe 3.0 performance. But one thing, the warranty period for the 250GB variant is 5 years from the date of purchase or 250TBW which is earlier, and in this 1 week of purchase the Samsung Magician records 2.1 TBW, so in this rate the warranty period is just 2.5-3 years. Now coming at the boot time, it takes 5 seconds to completely boot into WINDOWS 11 after power button pressed, restarting takes 8-9 seconds. Applications are running blazing-fast, just opens on click, in no time!!! I have observed, the installation of the SSD decreases the RAM consumption by almost 15%, this is an unexpected goodness of it. 5 stars for its performance on general computing, video editing and coding performance. I am not a gamer at all, so not sure of its gaming performance.

Bought it for my Inspiron 5570 laptop. Installed it in addition to the pathetic 5400 RPM HDD and cloned the OS drive on to this drive. Below are my observations regarding the performance: 1. Earlier my boot time was 2 to 3 mins with the HDD. Now utmost it takes 10 to 15 seconds. 2. Updates complete faster and installed Apps open faster. MS Word and Excel used to take 30+ seconds to open up but now they open up in couple of seconds (< 5 seconds). 3. Lag free performance. 4. The maximum read / write speed I can get is 1800 MB/s as Dell laptop controls the speed. I was considering selling my laptop with the terrible HDD performance. Most of the time would say 100% usage of HDD on task manager. This transformed my laptop into a beast. Only downside is it does heat up and I can feel warmness in laptops left palm rest and this also drains battery. Earlier with HDD with average usage (browsing / watching movies) I got 3 hrs. But now with the faster performance I get 1 to 1.5 hrs. But considering the performance it's all worth it. I also use Dell Latitude laptop and this is way faster than the SSD on Dell Latitude laptop.

Große Dateien werden in Sekundenschnelle kopiert, was meinen Workflow deutlich beschleunigt.
