What I like about this CD IS That it works well as it should. I like the songs and the music.

I enjoyed these songs and played them a lot around the holiday season. These are oldies and are well-known songs for the most part, and they sound wonderful to the ear even though they're forty or fifty years old in some cases. Whether you only own one or two Christmas CDs and hate all the special music around the holidays or you own a dozen Christmas CDs, this album will recall all the golden hits of yesterday. The older generations will remember hearing these stories as kids, and the youth can enjoy the music of American entertainment history in the making. For one and all, Merry Christmas!

...must've had a bad day when he wrote the review. I'm speaking, of course, of the grouchy comment from H. Freeman. Music is a matter of different tastes, and you may not like Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and the other fine artists on this album, but his comments are beyond the pale.In any case, I remember my mom buying this album in the 60s, and it became one of our musical staples at Christmas time. I do believe it was a cut above the tire store Christmas albums of that era. At the time, all of the singers were still alive and part of the popular culture. Their versions of the Christmas standards, I believe, are excellent. Bing Crosby's "Little Drummer Boy" was one of the first renditions of that song, and set a standard for vocalists who performed after.If you want an operatic Christmas, this is not for you. But the songs are traditional for the American Christmas culture, and are performed by some of the finest vocalists of the day.

My mom always complains about not being able to find a classic christmas CD. She lives this CD's song selection. It was a great gift for her this year.

They can sing any type of music and have seen their concerts. The CD is very good.

I was looking for a CD that would be similar to the Christmas songs my mom would play back when I was a kid (in the 1980's). This CD was the closest I could find, and I'm really glad I bought it. If you can only have one Christmas CD, this is a great choice! It has all of my favorite classic songs.

I needed more variety in my Christmas album collections, so I bought this and volume 2. There are some arrangements I don't like, but there are some "classic" Christmas songs, too. Overall I like the cd.
