6 Pack American Lock Padlock With 1 1/2" Solid Aluminum Body 1 1/2" Shackle

I picked up a set of six after looking for some padlocks to practice gutting and repinning with. The set that arrived was all keyed the same (sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't), in separate packages inside a distributor's box. The keys are all sturdy brass and the mechanism is solid and responsive. The lock core is held in place by a single Philips head screw down inside the body where the business end of the shank goes. Remove that, and you can pop the receiver pin and bottom plate off without any trouble. Reassembly is also straightforward. I was surprised to find not only multiple security pins inside the lock core but multiple kinds of security pins (serrated key pins, serrated driver pins, and spool driver pins). You probably won't have the right size of plug follower on hand because the lock core is a bit smaller than usual, so be prepared to improvise unless you have a lot of patience and a steady hand. The lock ring on the back of the plug is refreshingly simple to pop free assuming that you have the right tool (I used a quarter-inch lock ring tool and they came right off without damage). The lock core is drilled for six pin stacks, but only five are populated out of the box. If you're making a shortpinned practice lock set you can use the leftover parts from the other locks to flesh out the six. The outside of each lock was a bit greasy so you might want to take some degreaser to it if you plan on messing with the lock for extended periods of time. Also, each lock had a fairly large dollop of grease inside, which doesn't seem to interfere with the working of the lock but can cause a mess if you're not expecting it.

Shipping...well it took forever and tracking was confused, but it did finally show up.

I've ordered this twice recently, and both orders were NOT keyed alike as clearly stated in the description and were returned. I ordered this once before in 2019, and they were as described then. It appears that Amazon may be using a different seller, based on the Seller Review link, than is described here, and that may be the problem. If you wanted the locks keyed alike, don't order this!

Item description clearly states they are keyed alike. I was sent 6 locks that are keyed individually. Still a great lock, just wanted them keyed the same
